Access full text journal article databases for free. How?

1) As a QPL account holder of State Library of Queensland.

The first section of this tutorial shows you how to register and begin using the State Library Online Databases through the Cairns Library website.

2) Via our institutional membership of JCU

The second section of this tutorial shows you where to go at JCU library to search for journal articles and save them onto USB. Sound files of many items can be saved too.

NB Why are these options important for teachers and senior students? The Resource Centre no longer subscribes to ProQuest databases. The monies have been put towards an upgrade of our Library Management System to V-Library.

V-Library is coming at the end of May. V-Library will be a file manager for the entire network, a source of 24hr Educational TV, a tool for parcelling E-Learning, and a confederated catalogue of any compatible online databases we obtain permission to access.

How do you access the journal article databases at JCU?

1. Entrance

2. First Floor

3. Help Desk (If you need it)

4. Turn sharply left - walk to the last 2 terminals

5. Use either computer and go to JCU homepage:

www.jcu.edu.au Click on Library and computing

6. Click on Databases

7. A long list of databases loads. Select one.

8. This is the Literature Resource Centre

9. This is Ethnography Video Online

side.

11. Access full text .PDF files in many cases. Save onto your USB.
