Course outline
This training course will provide an extensive overview of both the online banking and the online
payment landscape and the changes and developments within these worlds. We will discuss
the concerning balance between usability and security. We will focus on different methods for
web-based communications and online security as well as innovations in online banking and
online payments. You will learn to understand current and future developments in online
banking and how to define secure, new and relevant online banking and payment services. The
training can be specified to your business activity.
Intended audience
This course is suitable for people with a business focus and/or a more technical oriented focus.
The subjects that will be discussed and presented will not be too technical, and will be
interesting for all people that want to know more about the payment and banking world.
Required skills and expertise
To attend this course, no special skills or expertise are required. (Basic) knowledge of financial
transaction systems is an advantage.

09.00 – 09.30 Introduction
This introduction module provides an introduction to the training as well
as introduction to some key concepts and trends.
09.30 – 09.15 Online Regulation
Within this training module we will get familiar with the regulatory
landscape. Before diving into the techniques, it is important to
understand what regulations apply and their strengths and weaknesses.
10.15 – 10.30 Coffee break
10:30 – 11.15 Secure Online Communication
This module focuses on what kinds of communication flows are possible
online and how to secure them. This way we could understand how
secure and efficient communication should be achieved.
11:15 – 12.00 Online Authentication
The focus here is on the different methods which are available for
remotely proving user authenticity. Understanding the structure and
security levels of online authentication is important in order discuss the
security of online payment and/or online banking.
12.00 – 13.00 Lunch break
13.00 – 14.00 Online Fraud
After lunch we will discuss what online fraud is, how it is committed and
what the solutions are. This way we will manage to understand the
technical mechanisms used to prevent online fraud.
14.00 – 14.45 Online Banking
The characteristics of Online Banking and what’s behind the scenes is
subject in this module. Understanding how online banking comes to a
success for both the bank and its customer is important in order to
define new services.
14.45 – 15.00 Coffee break
15.00 – 16.00 Online Payments
In this module the focus is on the characteristics of an online payment
and the different methods to pay online. After this method you will
understand differences in payment methods and find payment
innovation opportunities.
16.00 – 16.45 Online Financial Services
The focus here is on what kind of services are offered to make financial
transactions more efficient. We will discuss the different element which
can be outsourced to Payment Service Providers, e-Wallet Provider or
