    Volunteering can be many things, but it always

    improves our world, and in the process, it always

    makes us better people.

    Whether you have logged thousands o volunteer

    hours or are learning how it works or the

    rst time, this guide can help to walk you through

    some simple steps, to get organized or just

    get started.

    neighborhood associations need help.

    Which organizations have a reputation or eective work that

    improves lives?

    Which organizations are known or their expertise in working with

    OUR CAUSE IS childrens hospital playrooms,

    Rostov, Russia

    Amway works with employees and distributors in Russia to fund

    and maintain much-needed playrooms in government hospitals for

    terminally ill children.

    4.CONTACTContact the organization to determine the need for volunteers

    What day and time do you want to volunteer and how long

    can you stay?

    How ar are you willing to travel?

    Would you rather be indoors or outdoors?

    How many people does the organization need?

    What other logistics are involved? Consider security, ood,

    dress code, transportation and tools.

    OUR CAUSE ISbuilding homes for families,

    Zacapa, Guatemala

    Each year, Amway distributors travel from the United States to

    Guatemala to build homes for under-resourced families through a

    Habitat for Humanity program, with funding in part from Amway.

    5.INVITEInvite friends and colleagues to join you

    Are there others you know who would be good volunteers?

    Volunteer events can be great team building experiences,

    providing lielong bonds o riendship.

    Social media tools can help you organize, promote and invite

    people to an event.

    OUR CAUSE IS children without parents,

    Seoul, South Korea

    In South Korea, Amway distributors and employees regularly visit child

    welfare centers to provide childcare, cleaning, mentoring and school

    help for foster children.

    6.COMMITCommit to a day and time

    Conrm with all o your riends 3 to 7 days in advance and attend any

    training required by the organization.

    Only cancel i you give the organization plenty o advance notice.

    Plan the details o the event with your team.

    Be on time and ready to work.

    OUR CAUSE IS nature therapy,

    Nagano, Japan

    Several times each year, Amway volunteers in Japan visit the Afan

    Forest in Nagano to host blind or abused children in nature therapy

    sessions with trained therapists.

    7.DODo your volunteering!

    You are there to serve, so be fexible to meet the needs o others.

    Make sure everyone on your team has a nametag and

    an assignment.

    Spend time with the children i they are there, and learn more

    about the needs and the mission o the organization.

    OUR CAUSE IS cleft palate surgeries,

    Bangkok, Thailand

    In Thailand, Vietnam, South Africa and China, Amway distributors and

    employees have funded and volunteered at Operation Smile missions,

    where cleft palate surgery is given for free to children from families

    that cannot afford medical care.

    8.CAPTURECapture the hours and stories

    Calculate the number o hours each person volunteered (not including

    travel and meal times).

    Take photos i you have approval rom the organization, noting any

    local restrictions or taking photos o children and getting written

    permission rom parents when necessary

    Learn about the stories o the amilies being served, and o the

    volunteer experiences that day.

    In India, Amway employees and distributors work on projects

    throughout the year, and submit their hours and stories to Amway

    India headquarters to compete for the greatest impact each year.

    9.REPORTReport the impact

    Share your volunteer hours with your local Amway oce.

    Post photos to Twitter, Instagram and other social media sites

    using hashtag #amwayonebyone.

    With your permission, your stories could be proled by Amway

    or shared with the media.

    The more we tell our stories, the more we inspire others to do more.

    OUR CAUSE IS helping children with disabilities,

    Daytona Beach, Florida, USA

    Amway distributors and employees in North America have been

    logging hundreds of hours helping children with disabilities for the

    past 30 years through Easter Seals, raising money at annual walks

    and other events, and spreading the word through their networks.

    By building partnerships with government, media, schools and charita-

    ble institutions, Amway China has built a network of more than 65,000

    volunteers across the country and was the frst multinational company
