Part 6The Jezebel spell

“One of the most dominating and

controlling spirits unleashed against the church and the people of God is the spirit of Jezebel.”

Revelation 2:20-23 NIV 20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.

In the Old Testament Jezebel lives and breathes,

but in the New Testament she represents a

spirit.

1 Kings 16:31 ESV …, he took for his wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him.

Jezebel only gained access to

the kingdom because they had

invited her in.

1 Kings 18:4 - … Jezebel massacred the prophets of the Lord.

The Fear Factor

Jezebel ruled and controlled through

intimidation and fear.

Very often the spirit of Jezebel will show up in

leadership in the church.

1. "married to Baal." 2. "inability to

cohabitate."

Jezebel's name has two meanings:

“The spirit of Jezebel brings such an attack

against spiritual leaders that unless they are

strong, they will run from there appointed assigned

place.”

Causing the Legit to Quit

1 Kings 19:1-3 NAS 1 Now Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time." 3 And he was afraid and arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.

“Jezebel has an agenda; if she can't rule the leader, she will seek to destroy

the leader and replace him with someone she can

control.”

• Jezebel is the ultimate backstabber because she is about one thing; self-preservation.

• One of the main trademarks of the person who allows this spirit to have control is a massive ego.

The spirit of Jezebel must not

Jezebel wants also to control what is

taught in the church.

“One of the things that

Jezebel must have to be

successful is an Ahab.”

Tolerate - to allow the existence, presence,

practice, or act of [something that one does

not necessarily like or agree with] without

prohibition or hindrance; to permit.

1. For the healing of souls

2. For obedience to Christ

3. For the church to walk in freedom

4. For the next generation

Revelation 2:23

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

1. Allow God to deal with you before you deal with anyone else.

2. If you are not a spiritual leader find one.

3. Approach this person in humility and determination.

4. Pray, pray, and pray again.

How to Break the Jezebel Spell

24 But I also have a message for the rest of you in Thyatira who have not followed this false teaching ('deeper truths,' as they call them -- depths of Satan, really). I will ask nothing more of you 25 except that you hold tightly to what you have until I come.
