Introduction
On behalf of the men and women of the City of Onalaska Fire Department, it is with great pride I present you with an
overview of the department’s accomplishments and activities for 2017.
Onalaska Fire Department responded to 1,595 incidents in 2017; an increase of 4.6 % over 2016 incidents and 50 %
greater than 2006. Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responses were 1258 and fire responses were 337.
I am proud of the accomplishments of the Onalaska Fire Department; it takes tremendous teamwork from all personnel
paralleled with the support of city officials and our residents who provide us the opportunity to deliver the highest level
of quality services Onalaska Fire Department delivers on a daily basis as a ISO Class 3 Department.
Mission:
To protect and enhance the quality of life for its residents, employees, visitors, and businesses with responsive and comprehensive programs focused on fire prevention, public education, and emergency response while providing the highest quality of emergency management for medical, fire, hazardous materials and other disaster type emergencies.
OFD Mission is focused on saving lives and protecting property by:
Creating a safer community to live and work Providing the best and safest fire and EMS response protection possible Educating children, adults and businesses on the dangers of fire Developing fire and fall prevention programs for senior citizen communities Being leaders and role models within the community OFD Vision:

ONALASKA FIRE DEPT - 2017 EMS TREATMENT DISPOSITION
Firefighters Attended A Total of 2707 Hours of Training in 2017.
2017 National Fire Prevention Week and Public Education Review
Public Education Programs: 1850 children and approximately 400 Adults
Pre-School and Day Care Centers: (648) Fire safety talk. Firefighters in full protective gear with air mask. Station tours. 95’ Aerial demonstration.
K – 2nd Grade: (770) Fire Safety show at the Onalaska Fire Department Station Tour. 95’ Aerial demonstration.
3rd Grade: (282 kids 26 Adults) Fort McCoy Fire Safety House went to schools Onalaska Firefighters (Presenters)
Fire Prevention Week Open House: approximately 150 children and 150 Adults
Med-link Air Helicopter, Fort McCoy Fire Safety House, Fire Trucks, other life safety presenters Tours, safety information, and demonstrations.

Fire Inspections 01/01/17 – 12/31/17 (1870) Commercial Building Permits - New, Additions, and Remodels (58)
Car Seat Installation and Inspection Program: 16 installs Senior Citizen Fall and Fire Prevention / Blood Pressure Checks: 176 senior citizens Firehouse 5k Run/Walk to Benefit CMN: 275 participants over $25,000 donated to CMN in 7years. Other Community Events: National Night Out, Local businesses safety days, Salute to the Fourth Fireworks, Memorial Day Parade, School Lunch Program, Station Tours – Boy Scouts and many other groups, Fire Extinguisher Classes and Demos, Coloring with Chief Open House
