Dropping a Course Please call Continuing Education Services as soon as possible when needing to drop a class. A request to drop a course is required by the published “register by” date for a refund.

Refunds Tuition is fully refundable or transferable up to the “register by” date. Our goal is to ensure the greatest opportunity for participation in cours-es; however, late registration cannot be guaran-teed and is non-refundable. If a class is can-celled due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseeable circumstances, a full refund of tuition will be issued automatically and regis-trants will be notified. UA Cossatot reserves the right to reschedule, cancel, and appoint an al-ternate instructor for all classes. Inclement Weather In the event that the area weather is so severe the College feels that life and property may be in danger, classes may be canceled until weath-er and road conditions improve. We strive to distribute announcements regarding closures to students, faculty, and staff in a timely fashion. Textbooks Some courses require the purchase of a text-book, software or supplementary materi-al. Students should check the Continuing Edu-cation Schedule to determine if a textbook is required, and visit the Educational Resource Center (ERC) to purchase textbooks. An ERC representative will make textbooks available for sale on the same campus that the course will be conducted beginning one week prior to the beginning and the first week of class. The NEW Arkansas EN-HANCED Carry License is NOW AVAILA-BLE. You MUST have an Arkansas CHCL to do this course. This license will allow you to carry into many restricted areas where the basic concealed carry holders cannot carry, such as State buildings, athletic events, gov-ernment entities, university and college cam-puses and more. National Continued

Competency Requirement (NCCR)

This 24 hour class (takes the place of the traditional 24 hour EMT refresher) may be taken to maintain state licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician and/or meet the NREMT renewal requirements. Classes are a low-stress experience designed to refresh existing knowledge and introduce new information. The National Registry of EMT’s requires that all Nationally Registered EMTs com-plete the National Continued Competency Requirements

as outlined by the NREMT published in October 2016 in order to maintain their NREMT status. This class contains the twenty (20) hours of NCCR and it will also contain an additional four (4) hour trauma course pertaining to Arkansas Trauma System. Pharmacy Technician

Program

This comprehensive 50 hour program will

prepare students to work as a pharmacy tech-

nician in a retail or other pharmacy setting

and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certifi-

cation Board’s PTCB exam. Course content

includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the

history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in

multiple environments, pharmacy calcula-

tions and measurements, reading and inter-

preting prescriptions, and defining drugs by

generic and brand names. Through classroom

lecture and hands on labs, students will re-

view dosage calculations, drug classifica-

tions, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. flow rates,

sterile compounding, dose conversions, asep-

tic technique, the handling of sterile products,

total parental nutrition (TPN), dispensing of

prescriptions, inventory control, and billing

and reimbursement.

This 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Pro-

specimens from clients for the purpose of

EKG Technician Certification

Program

This comprehensive 50 hour EKG Technician

Certification Program prepares students to func-

tion as EKG Technicians and to take the ASPT –

Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam and

other National Certification Exams. This course

will include important practice and background

information on anatomy and physiology of the

heart, medical disease processes, medical termi-

nology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient

contact, electrocardiography, and stress test-

ing. Additionally, students will practice with

EKG equipment and perform hands on labs

including introduction to the function and proper

use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of

Medical Billing and Coding

Program

This combined 80 hour billing and coding

course offers the skills needed to solve insur-

ance billing problems, how to manually file

claims (using the CPT and ICD-10 manual),

complete common insurance forms, trace

delinquent claims, appeal denied claims, and

use generic forms to streamline billing proce-

dures. The course covers the following areas:

CPT (Introduction, Guidelines, Evaluation

and Management), specialty fields (such as

surgery, radiology and laboratory), ICD-10

(Introduction and Guidelines) and basic

claims processes for medical insurance and

third party reimbursements. Students will

learn how to find the service and codes using

manuals, (CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS).
