On September 15, under clear, sunny skies and a light breeze, the Heart of Maryland Classic Club welcomed approximately 300 vehicles of all makes and models to the 27th annual Car and Truck Show to benefit the Alzheimers Association – Greater Maryland Chapter. The show was held at the MVA off I-70 in Frederick, MD. The show participants, guests and spectators enjoyed a day filled with outstanding vehicles, music, vendors, food, raffles, Shell Gas gift cards, door prizes and fellowship. Among the vehicles were a new 2019 Chevy Blazer and a 2019 Chevy Silverado pickup displayed courtesy of Fitzgerald Chevrolet/ Cadillac – one of our major sponsors. A representa- tive of the dealership was on hand to answer questions and show off these beautiful vehicles. The Chinese Raffle offered a wide variety of basketsthat ranged from an American Girl Doll with accessories to a home tool kit. Most items were provided by HMCCC members and some items were donated by Fitzgerald Car Quest Auto Parts. Many unique items were auctioned off by professional auc- tioneer, Roger Rothenheofer, who generously volunteers his professional services each year of the show. Again, items were donated by members, friends and Fitzgerald Car Care Auto Parts. Who could say No Thanksto JR and Joanne Rosenberger who dressed in purple attire to sell 50/50 tickets? Two 50/50 drawings were held with ½ going to the winner and ½ to Alzhei- mers Association for each drawing. The first 50/50 netted $335 to the winner and an equal amount to Alzheimers and then the winner donated $80 back! The second drawing awarded $304 to the winner and an equal amount to Alzheimers. Congratulations to the winners! At noon, everyone paid respects to our nations flag as our national anthem soared out across the show field. The flag flew high over the crowd attached to a large crane provided by John- son Crane Service. Between the raffles and auction, hungry guests were able to munch on food provided by our food vendors: In10se BBQ, Ca- fé Sabate, CryinJohnnies and Brusters Ice Cream. Also, the Boy Scouts of Troop 460 of Mt. Airy sold snowballs. Throughout the day, car registration numbers were drawn. The lucky winners each received a Shell gas gift card courtesy of Aspen Hill Shell Station – JR Rosenberger. As an added treat, our guests listened to a live concert pre- sented by Let There Be Rock Schoolsunder the direction of Scott Marceron. Proud grandpa, Carroll Anderson, really en- joyed the music as his granddaughter was the lead singer/ bassist for the group Thunder Underground. This years special raffle items were: first place prize – a Bushel of crabs (donated by Westpointe Crab House of Freder- ick) plus $200 in MD scratch off lottery tickets (donated by Rob- ert Clubb and Kingsley Edwards). The winners were David and Kim Johnson. The second place prize was $200 Amazon Gift Card (donated by a HMCCC member). It was won by Sean Kinn. Congratulations to the winners! Once again, HMCCC was able to raise a significant amount to donate to the Alzheimers Association thanks to the continu- ing, generous donations of the supporters of the show. On behalf of HMCCC and the Alzheimers Association – Greater Maryland Chapter, thank you for your part in making our 27th annual show a great success. Mark your calendars—next year our show will be held on September 20, 2020. Save the date! Hope to see all of you at our 28th annual Car & Truck Show to benefit the Alzheimers Association.
