technology, education, science and arts. Theprogress and contribution of the University in
the field of technical education for threedecades, made the Ministry of Human
Resources Development, Govt. of India, togrant University status Under Section (3) ofthe UGC Act, 1956. Sathyabama University issteered towards success under the leadership
of visionary founder Col. Dr. JEPPIAAR,Chancellor Tmt. Remibai Jeppiaar, and theable support and guidance of the pro
chancellor, Dr. Mariazeena Johnson and vicepresident, Dr. Marie Johnson. The Universityhas undertaken various sponsored projectsfunded by National organizations and also
successfully conducted nonformal educationprograms through 18 village Resource
Centers all over the state.

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISHThe Department of English is one among theestablished departments since the inception of
the University in the year 1987. It activelyinvolves in various research works in the areaof English Language and Literature. Apart fromacademics, the Department imparts personalitydevelopment, soft skills and placement trainingto students at the tertiary level. The departmenthas organised conferences at national andinternational levels besides conducting
workshops and symposiums every year. Thedepartment offers PG and Ph.D. programs in
ELT and English Literature.

5 February, 2017. The last date for submission of the fulllength paper
along with the details of registration is the 15 of February, 2017. Include in your abstract: (1) themearea, (2) title of your paper, (3) your name, batch & year,
(4) your affiliation and(5) your email and postal addresses.
Acceptance of your paper will be intimated, based onpeer review, by the 10 of February, 2017. Paper
presenters are expected to follow 7th MLA format with aword limit of 20002500 words.

EMERGING TRENDS IN INDIAN ENGLISHLITERATURE
The objective of the proposed seminar is to trace thechange that characterizes Indian Writing in English thathas evolved creatively and critically in the 21st centuryand has spread across the globe. Over the past decades
a host of Indian writers have carved out a niche forthemselves in the global space. The seminar exploresan array of themes of such contemporary Indian writers. We invite papers from interested UG and PG students
on the following aspects:
A registration fee of INR 250/ is to be paid by Presentersand INR 150/ by participants which will include the
Seminar kit, lunch and refreshments.MODE OF PAYMENT: DD in favour of Sathyabama
University, Chennai, on or before 20 of February, 2017.
Certificates for Attendance and Presentation will beissued towards the end of the seminar, therefore,
participants are requested to stay for the entire seminar.Select papers based on its originality will be included aspart of seminar proceedings to be published with ISBN.
