3 rd WORKSHOP ON GEODATA IN ECONOMICS CALL FOR PAPERS May 14 – 16 2020 in Hannover, Germany The Universities of Hannover, Hamburg and Braunschweig are jointly organizing an international workshop on modern applications of geospatial data in economics. The workshop aims to provide a platform for researchers to network, exchange ideas, and promote innovative research using geospatial data and remote sensing. KEYNOTE SPEAKERS GILLES DURANTON (Wharton) NATHANIEL BAUM-SNOW (Toronto) The workshop will take place in a plenary format on Thursday, May 14 to Friday, May 15 and will be followed by an optional workshop for young researchers (advanced PhD candidates and early-stage Post-Docs) on Saturday, May 16 2020. In the plenary sessions, each paper will be allocated 45 minutes, including the presentation, an assigned discussion, and a floor debate. SUBMISSION All papers should make use of geospatial data. Submissions from all fields of economics (e.g. development economics, regional or urban economics, environmental economics or economic history) and related fields will be considered. We also encourage applications focusing on spatial methods, remote sensing and/or machine learning. The deadline for submissions of (preliminary) papers is 29 February 2020. Both full papers and extended abstracts (min. 3 pages) will be considered. Decisions will be announced by March 13 2020.
