3rd WORKSHOP
ON GEODATA IN ECONOMICS
CALL FOR PAPERS May 14 – 16 2020 in Hannover, Germany
The Universities of Hannover, Hamburg and Braunschweig
are jointly organizing an international workshop on modern
applications of geospatial data in economics. The
workshop aims to provide a platform for researchers to
network, exchange ideas, and promote innovative
research using geospatial data and remote sensing.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
GILLES DURANTON (Wharton)
NATHANIEL BAUM-SNOW (Toronto)
The workshop will take place in a plenary format on
Thursday, May 14 to Friday, May 15 and will be followed by
an optional workshop for young researchers (advanced
PhD candidates and early-stage Post-Docs) on Saturday,
May 16 2020. In the plenary sessions, each paper will be
allocated 45 minutes, including the presentation, an
assigned discussion, and a floor debate.
SUBMISSION
All papers should make use of geospatial data. Submissions
from all fields of economics (e.g. development economics,
regional or urban economics, environmental economics or
economic history) and related fields will be considered. We
also encourage applications focusing on spatial methods,
remote sensing and/or machine learning.
The deadline for submissions of (preliminary) papers is 29
February 2020. Both full papers and extended abstracts
(min. 3 pages) will be considered. Decisions will be
announced by March 13 2020.
