COVID-19 Safety Training: What You Need to Know to Stay Safe2
HOW DOES COVID-19 SPREAD
»The virus spreads mainly from person-to-person- Between people who are in close contact with one another
(within 6 feet)- Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person
coughs, sneezes or talks- These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are
nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs- It is also possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a
surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose or eyes — although this is not the main way the virus spreads
»People who are not showing symptoms can spread the virus
COVID-19 Safety Training: What You Need to Know to Stay Safe3
SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19

or difficulty breathing»Fatigue»Muscle or body aches
COVID-19 Safety Training: What You Need to Know to Stay Safe4

HOW TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19
»“Social Distancing” - Avoid close contact- Avoid close contact with people who are sick, even inside your home.
If possible, maintain 6 feet between the person who is sick and other household members• Close contact = being within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for
10+ minutes
- Put distance between yourself and other people outside your home• Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from others
• People without symptoms can still spread the virus
• Do not gather in groups; stay out of crowded places and mass gatherings
• Keeping distance from others is especially important for high-risk individuals
COVID-19 Safety Training: What You Need to Know to Stay Safe8
HOW TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19

COVID-19 Safety Training: What You Need to Know to Stay Safe9
HOW TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19»Cover your mouth and nose with a disposable face mask or cloth face
covering when around others, especially if 6 feet distance cannot be maintained- A face covering is meant to protect others in case you are infected (when
combined with physical distancing and frequent hand washing), as you can spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick
- Continue to keep 6 feet distance between yourself others — a face covering is not a substitute for social distancing
»Cover coughs and sneezes- If you do not have a face covering on, always cover your mouth and nose
with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow
- Throw used tissues in a closed receptacle
- Immediately practice hand hygiene
