I have just now finished packing for what, I am certain will be my last trip through Dubai and Kuala Lumpur before Christmas and the year end.

I of course say that with the same degree of certainty with which I said that Britain would not Brexit or that Trump would not be president. Maybe I should keep a bag packed!

In any event, I’m very much looking forward to this trip as, in a way, it’s always great to be at that time of year when one’s vision extends across the bridge between the end of one trading period and the beginning of the next. Now that almost all of the results of this current year’s hard efforts are in, and those that have spilled over to the New Year have begun to bring in results for next year and with this following year’s budgets now defined, the current year-end becomes an interesting mix of nostalgia, sometimes excitement, often concern and always enthusiasm.

With oil prices still languishing, the concern within the group is definitely ever present. We continue to witness the frequent slippage of start dates from projects for which contracts have been obtained, or worse yet, cancellations or dramatic downwards revisions in scope. These are aspects are representative of the concern element of this time of year. On the other hand, we see some signs of solidification of orders rolling into next year coupled with the inevitable excitement which ripples right throughout the group, resultant from the continuing growth in IFL prospects and sales, both at home and abroad.

If there is a message to be heard however, from the reverberations of the industry at large, it must surely be that for the time being we must continue our efforts to avail ourselves of every opportunity that exists and to develop new opportunities wherever we can. We must strive as we always have done to impress our customers with quality and service so as to continually remind them why they should do business with us as opposed to a competitor and we must make every project as effective and profitable as we can do so as to strengthen our corporate position and provide an adequacy of impetus such that we may continue to prevail in these otherwise difficult times.

As I look ahead just the few months that I can with any clarity, given our current contracts and bid books I feel sure that we shall indeed prevail. When I look back with total clarity over the last 38 years at the peaks and troughs we have endured I become even more resolved and confident that we most assuredly shall conquer all adversities so that all divisions will prosper and grow.

So let’s all continue the fine efforts that have been put in over the past year so that we do indeed roll into 2017 with all the encouragement and enthusiasm we should deservedly feel in respect of the year ahead.

Thanks to one and all!

thus enabling the insertion of single lengths of multiple kilometers of line through multiple 90 degrees bends of down to 5D radii.

The outer TPU covering provides a maximum protection and abrasion resistance, as may be required during the pulling and insertion process of the IFL liner system into the host pipeline.

The IFL system offers the subsea pipeline industry with a supremely viable, fast and economic preference when compared against the only other option of a new-lay pipeline replacement.

To date, already 10 pipelines within the PETRONAS pipeline network have been rehabilitated with the IFL system. Many more IFL rehabilitation projects with PETRONAS and other operators around the world are planned for 2017 and 2018.

Have a look at our recently re-newed IFL website and find our more about this unique solution: www.infieldliner.com

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) is one of the cornerstones of our APSM operations. We put high emphasis on policies and procedures related to the health, safety and environment of the Company.

Zul Irwandi Musbahudin joined APS Malaysia as a HSE Officer in March 2013. During the past 3 years he has gained vast experience and has become part of the growth and success of the company.

He was involved in different jobsites like the projects in Semarang Sabah, West Lutong Sarawak and the latest Bokor,Tukau, Bayan and Baram in Sarawak. In 2014, Zul was promoted to HSE Manager to lead the overall HSE for APSM. With his experience and dedication, APSM’s HSE performance has improved tremendously. This can be attested whereby recently, during the IFL Baram Campaign, APSM received recognition from Petronas for “Best HSE Plan”.

Zul is truly passionate about his job as can be derived from his standard auto-signature quote: “Safety is a full-time job, don’t make it a part time practice”.

As Zul is a living example of real commitment to safety at work and he manages to inspire the entire workforce with his dedication, this month Zul is our U-Value king of Safety.

APS were the inventors and project managers of the IFL system, with full responsibility for the development, coordination and qualification testing on the utilization and implementation of a range of high performance raw materials, manufacturing processes and liner installation techniques.

An IFL liner is a flexible Kevlar reinforced liner that can be installed in lengths of up to 5 kilometers in a single pulling operation. The usage of high specification materials within its construction provide the IFL system with a high resistance to a wide range of hydrocarbon media at elevated temperatures of up to 110°C and exceptional host pipe matching pressure retaining capability within its tight fit operating criteria.

The IFL liner comprises of Solvay’s Solef PVDF inner liner, a tightly woven Aramid core, using Dupont Kevlar fabric, with an outer layer of abrasive resistant Thermoplastic Polyurethane from BASF.

The inner PVDF layer provides a high chemical resistance to the most aggressive hydrocarbon exposure conditions, including hot sour crude oil up to 110°C.

The Kevlar core provides the liner with an extremely high tensile strength,

DID YOU KNOW?

Here at APS the overwhelming majority of coatings we apply are ‘protective’ coatings, meaning they’re applied to protect the surface beneath. Globally though the majority of coatings are applied purely for decorative reasons. Decorative coating can be traced to 40,000 years ago, to cave drawings, when prehistoric man would ‘decorate’ the walls of their caves. They even used to ‘spray’ paint, by blowing it through the hollow bones of birds.
