Jack said, Besides the supportive teachers that recognised my potential and the fantastic times I spent with friends, the most vivid memory I have of Oliver Goldsmith was receiving my SATs results. Whilst proud of my maths and science grades I wanted to do better at English. It was through the help of my teachers at secondary school and self-determination I was able to achieve a grade 9 / high A* in English language to match my maths and science grades. It was then on to sixth form where I chose to study chemistry, maths and physics as well as an extended essay. I have an enthusiasm for learning and being the best that I can be. I almost always had an idea of applying to Cambridge but did not realise how much effort was actually needed to be put in. However, through discipline and aspiration, I pushed myself an- other step further to ensure that I was prepared for what was to come. I put myself up against the top students in the country from both private and state schools because I wanted the best education on offer. I am excited to say that I have been offered a place at St Johns College, Cambridge and that I am stunned that I received an offer, I know that it was down to my desire, discipline and determina- tion that got me there. If I were to advise children just going onto secondary school on how to be successful, the first thing that I would say is that it does not matter if you dont know what you want to do and that you shouldnt worry about your SATs results. As long as you have an eagerness to do better and take every opportunity you get given you will find what you love. The second thing is to read as much fiction and as much non-fiction, as it will help convey your ideas clearly and concisely and it will allow your imagination to run wild. The third is to have intelligent conversations with your friends, parents or teachers, tell them about something you enjoy or have learnt. In all, from Nursery to Pre-University, I have learnt that all you need is a positive attitude to learn and a desire to never stop working to be the best you can. It is all about the student themselves, it is their course of action that will paint their future.KS1/KS2 SATs Assessment Meetings Thank you to our KS1 and KS2 parents who attended the SATs Assessment Meetings on Tuesday 15th January 2019. Moses KS2. Congratulations Jack! We are always proud to hear about the success of past pupils. Jack s mum Kelley, who works at Oliver Goldsmith, also deserves recognition for the support she has given her son throughout!
