Relay for Life follow-up: Relay for Life was held Friday, May 12 at Tom Johnson's
in a near constant state of rain - downpour to heavy mist.
FBC donated $100 for 10 lumanaria bags to celebrate and
honor those who have and are battling cancer. Thanks
also to our church family members who came out to
walk/wade around the track.
May 21 breakfast: Our church-wide breakfast was May 21. We had 33 join in for food and fellowship. We do this at the end of each quarter. The next breakfast will be near the end of August.
The young people at Old Fort First Baptist will start July off with the Old Fort Parade!!! Kelly Coons is our contact person for this event. All small children will ride in the back of Mr. Kelly’s truck waving flags and
tossing tootsie rolls, while older young people ride their bikes!! Parade line up at Old Fort School is 2pm-3pm. The parade starts at 4pm. Hope everyone comes out to celebrate our inde-pendence on July 4th.
SHOUT OUT TO ALL 3RD-12TH GRADERS---- Something to LOOK forward to... AUGUST 19TH DOLLYWOOD SPLASH COUNTRY!!!!
One Day Trip to Dollywood Splash Country August 19th. In order to go, you must come to church Sunday mornings, Sunday nights and Wednesday nights. In order to bring a friend they must also come to church to hold your spot for this trip! Contacts for this are April, Nova, and Josh. We will plan a parent meeting and go over this trip with everyone, so please look at your calendar and plan ahead. We would hate for our young people to miss out. We want to remind everyone good attendance at church is most important for trips like these. We, as leaders, want to know the young people we are with and for them to trust in us as their leaders to take care of them.
Rev. Drew Dalton
& Family
Rev. Dalton has been in vocational ministry
for almost 8 years. He and his wife, Martha,
have been married for 14 years. They have
been blessed with three beautiful daughters:
Rebekah (9), Abigail (6), and Hannah
(1-1/2).
Rev. Dalton has a strong commitment to the
pulpit, pastoral ministry, and relational
evangelism desiring to disciple, educate,
inspire, and lead the church to become
spiritually maturing Christians, as well as
being spiritually reproductive Christians.
On behalf of the Hensley family and everyone involved
in the event, we would like to thank you for your sup-
port of this second annual Eleck Willis Hensley "Heart
of a Lion" Scholarship Car Show. We sincerely appre-
ciate your generous contributions to this fund raising
event which will sponsor scholarships awarded in
Eleck's name to graduating seniors at McDowell High
School each year who are pursing 2 and 4 year degrees.
Dear Church Members,
Thank you for the wonderful dinner in honor of
graduation. Also, I love the beautiful Bible.
Love,
Megan Gaffigan
Dear Church,
I am sorry I missed the graduate recognition dinner. I
had to work. Thank you for the Bible and welcoming
me to the church.
Love,
Nick Favorite
Thanks to all of you!
We all enjoyed the Easter Basket. Needless to say,
Gemma got first choice!
Love,
James & Jeanette
Dear Homebound Committee,
Thank you so much for the Easter basket. I’m afraid
we may have put on a few more founds but we enjoyed
it.
May God continue to bless each of you.
Richard & Rachel Newton
To all the wonderful people who prepared the delicious
meal for the family of Mamie Elliott:
Your thoughtfulness and kindness was so greatly ap-
preciated and we just wanted to say “thank you” again.
As the summer begins we find our Lord working and provid-ing for First Baptist Church of Old Fort in a very remarkable way. It is to our great need, desire and expectations that we now have a Pastor. We are so grateful not only for the interim leadership of Dr. Don Berry but also for the upcoming leadership of Rev. Andrew Dalton. We look forward to the start of Brother Andrews ministry here on July 30th and ask that everyone pray for Brother Andrew and his wife, Martha, along with their three daughters Rebekah, Abigail and Hannah. Moving and change of jobs are two of the top three most stressful life events along with getting married. Let us rise to make this transition and move as uneventful as possible. As a minister of 25 years and several moves, the move loading and unloading can be the most ex-hausting and the provision of meals is extremely wel-comed. Prayer is always a positive and providing attention to the children is a great way to say “We love you.” So let’s be in prayer asking God what we as individuals and as a family of faith can do to make this transition smooth and easy.
God Bless Rev. Stephen Willie Director of Music
