Mr Scanes is on leave until the 21st September. In her
place are our executive team; Cathy O’Donnell, Pip
Thomas and Julia Smithurst. If you have any concerns
while Mrs Scanes is away, they will be more than happy to
assist.
We hope you will be able to come out and view our art
show this evening and tomorrow. The hall has been
transformed, and boasts a magnificent display of creative
artworks from students in K-2.
The opening ceremony begins at 6:00pm, led by a group of
year 2 students, accompanied by a surprise guest artist.
We ask that you listen courteously as the children guide us
through the opening of this year’s show.
Don’t forget to purchase your tickets to Dr Who and the
Time Warp”, showing at The Manning Entertainment
Centre on the 22nd September. Staff and students have
been working hard and tickets are selling out quickly!
Tickets can be purchased online at www.themec.com.au,
in person at the box office, or over the phone by calling
02 6592 5466.
Last week, Kade Donovan, from 6F, represented OBPS as
part of the 2016 Boys Softball Championships in Wagga
Wagga. Kade played extremely well, taking on crucial roles
in the Hunter team.
We received an email from Mrs Kylie Hill, the team coach,
congratulating Kade on his hard working, respectful and
friendly attitude, and conveying how appreciative she was
to have the opportunity to work with him.
Congratulations Kade, and thank you for doing such a great
job representing your school!

Tell Them From Me Survey
The “Tell Them From Me” survey is now up online.
Parents can access the survey by visiting https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/obps16.
Running this survey will help our school understand
parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s
experience at school. These include: communication
between parents/carers and staff, activities and
practices at home and parent/carer views on the
school's support of learning and behaviour. This
valuable feedback will help our school make
practical improvements.
The survey is conducted entirely online at home or
on public computers. The survey will take 15
minutes or less to complete and is confidential. The
parent survey will be conducted between 25 August
and 21 October. Participating in the survey is
entirely voluntary; however, your responses are very
much appreciated and valued.
More information about the survey is available at:

parents
Last Friday, OBPS had a record number of students travel to
Glendale sports centre to compete in the Hunter Regional
Athletics carnival.
All of our students performed exceptionally well despite
difficult weather conditions, and represented their school
with great pride and sportsmanship.
The junior girls relay team finished 2nd in their heat, and 5th
overall. The senior girls relay team came 3rd in their heat,
and 5th overall.
A big congratulations goes to Hannah Davies who’s amazing
throwing ability earnt her 2nd place in the 11 year girls
discus. Hannah will be heading to Sydney to compete in the
state athletics carnival on the 20th October.
Thank you to all of the parents and students who attended,
and represented our school so well.
Mr Barnes.
Christmas Boxes
OBPS is again participating in the “Operation Christmas
Child” appeal. Each class has been given a shoebox to fill
with gifts to be given to a child in need.
Students are asked to donate one or two gifts to be placed
in the boxes.
If you are looking for ideas, here are some suggestions: Toys: Include items that children will immediately embrace
such as toy cars, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, toys that light up
and make noise (with extra batteries), etc.
School Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons,
markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and
picture books, etc.
Non-liquid Hygiene Items: toothbrushes, bar soap, combs,
washcloths, etc.
Accessories: T-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips,
jewellery, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), etc.
Please do not include: Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy
guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; out-of-
date candy; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes
(powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or
vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass
containers; aerosol cans.
Please ensure goods are sent into school by the end of this
term.
Thank you to Melynne Rosamond and her amazing team of
volunteers who ran the father’s day stall last week. Thank
you also to the school leadership team, who stepped in to
help at the last minute!
We hope that all of the Dads and Grandfathers had a
wonderful father’s day, and enjoyed their gifts!
