OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION

• High School Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors as of

January 1 of the year of application

• Are approved by 4-H professionals as good representatives of Ohio 4-

H Youth Development

• Applications due January 23rd

• 2 year term (junior ambassador and senior ambassador; must re-apply

2nd year)

• No limit to the number selected

• Accept invitation, agree to terms and conditions, participate and

complete orientation

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION

• Orientation at Ohio 4-H Conference

• Participate in two mandatory leadership training

sessions

• Serve as emcees, committee members, and other

roles at Ohio 4-H Conference, State Fair 4-H events,

and other state 4-H programs

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION

• Ohio 4-H members at least 15 years old or sophomore are

eligible to apply

• Must be 4-H members for at least 24 consecutive months

prior to applying

• Applications due July 15 (new in 2014)

• 2 year term; begins September

• No more than 36 individuals on board; try to have

representation of the state

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION

• Orientation & training in September & throughout year

• Work together to improve Ohio 4-H programming,

administration, and relevance to youth in today’s society through

cooperation with State 4-H leaders, active support of new and

innovative 4-H programming, and advocacy for 4-H and youth

issues.

Teen Advisory Council-Duties

• More of “youth voice” and representation of 4-H

members throughout the state (Ohio foundation board

members, National 4-H conference participants, etc.)

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION

• CANNOT be Ambassador AND Teen Advisory Council

member at the same time (even if 2nd year of ambassador

and 1st year of TAC)

• Are not required to be an ambassador before TAC

members or TAC members to be an ambassador

• If want to do both:

Points to Note

• 9th & 10th grade: Ambassador

• 11th & 12th grade: TAC

• (or add a year one way or another)
