Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Dec. 12
Let us remember her words to Juan Diego and to all of us: “….Do not
let your countenance, your heart be disturbed. Do not fear this sick-
ness of your uncle or any other sickness, nor anything….Am I not here,
I, who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protec-
$on? Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my
mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Do you need anything more? “
On the occasion of the Consecraon of the Diocese of Metuchen to Our lady
of Guadalupe at the Cathedral of St. Francis, Metuchen, NJ

music ministry of Our Lady of Fama Parish on Sunday,
December 8, 2019, at 2:30p.m., 501 New Market Road, Pisca-
taway. Because Mary was the first and most perfect disciple of
Jesus, the music will celebrate her in Sacred Scripture, some
recent apparions and our response to her call to follow Jesus.
The concert is free but an offering will be taken to support the
church renovaon fund.
AN ANCHOR IN TIMES OF TURMOIL
We find ourselves in a world where nothing seems permanent,
where we are confronted with violence and the threat of
destrucon. Psychology tells us that in mes of turmoil we can
maintain our stability by anchoring our life to something
unshakable. Jesus calls us to anchor our life in fidelity to the
Lord and his way of life. To learn more about living a life of
faithfulness to our God through the focus of the Catholic faith
we invite you to meet with us at an Inquiry Session. All who
are unbapzed, bapzed in another Chrisan denominaon, or
bapzed Catholic but have never received the Sacraments of
Confirmaon AND Eucharist are invited. Inquiry sessions do
not assume a commitment to join the Catholic Church. They
are for those who wish to inquire, explore, and search for ways
to grow in relaonship with God.

THANK YOU FROM
PONTIFICAL MISSION SOCIETIES
Dear Friend of the Missions:
I am so grateful to you for your generous dona$on of $2133.00
for our World Mission Sunday appeal.
Like many of you, I oGen ask myself, as did Saint Igna$us
Loyola once did so long ago, “ What have I done for Christ?
What am I doing for Christ?

No doubt, we try to do the best we can to fulfill the command
of Jesus to “go into the world and proclaim the gospel to every
creature” (Mark 16:15). I thank you for your con$nued
support in following Christ’s request. Your World Mission
Sunday giG helps in our con$nued effort to serve the poor
around the world, most especially to those in places where
priests and parishioners con$nue to be persecuted for
following Jesus. Believe it or not, I receive requests, preMy
much on a weekly basis, asking for funds to help priests and
bishops who minister in such places.

God bless you for your generous dona$on. May Our Lord
shower his blessings upon you and your loved ones!

Sincerely in Christ Jesus Our Lord,
Reverend John G. Hillier

Dear Parishioners,
On this Second Sunday of Advent, our
readings allow us to hear three voices from
three different scriptural figures, Isaiah,
preaching to a people who find themselves
in a real slump hears that a King will come to
bring justice and peace. St. Paul exhorts
the communities to live in hope, bearing with
one another in mercy and harmony. John
the Baptist is another voice crying out in the
desert, “prepare the way for the Lord.” the
desert is an unlikely place for such a
proclamation. It’s good news for people
who feel like they are wandering a desert,
lonely, thirsty, hungry and tired.
Advent is about listening. Too often we are
tempted to look at our phones, even when we are praying or at Mass. It would be hard to be attentive
to the Scriptures with our minds elsewhere. There are moments of silence during the Mass. Many
times before Mass it is good to become recollected and to think about why we are there! During the
penitential act and after the invitation to prayer, silence facilitates meditation; after the reading or the
homily, it’s an invitation to meditate briefly on what we have just heard, after Communion, it favors
interior prayers of praise and supplication.
May Mary, the woman of Advent, teach us to listen.
Peace always, Fr. Dave
