FROM SCHOOL MANAGEMENT Dear AIUIS Family, As the 2017 – 2018 academic year draws to a close, the school management would like to express to all of you our deepest appreciation for your support and a most earnest commendation for a job well done. We know that we are not a perfect school, that up close there is much that can be improved. Still, we are continually impressed with the community-wide respect that we are afforded as educators. Parents’/guardians’ support constantly encourages us, and the kids to come to school daily, ready and eager to learn. Hence, as another outstanding year of teaching and learning comes to a close, we take this opportunity to thank all the parents, the AIUIS team, food service staff, volunteer teachers and our cleaners and maintenance team for your good efforts and hard work. You all make a difference in the lives of the students and through them, we believe we are making the world incrementally a better place for everyone. The School management ~ FOR GOD . Library Day - 3rd May 2018. Research has shown that students were spending less time on books and more on mobile phones. Concerned that students were reading less, a Library Day was organised in collaboration with "Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Kedah”. The committee's goals were ambitious, to encourage students to read.

Maths & Science Activity Week - 26th - 30th March 2018 A lot of activities were carried out such as amazing race, building bridges etc. The students really rose to the challenge and came up with some amazing bridge designs.

Annual Sports & Carnival Day - 28th April 2018 The event was marked with 2 separate events, Walkathon and the Sports Day itself. The AIUIS Community (Parents, Teachers, Staff and students) joined together to walk through the green space of AIU complex as a leisure time to promote living healthier lifestyle.

The Sports Day was marked by lots of fun activities by which students, parents and teachers participated. Green house maintained their Championship again, followed by Red House in 2nd Place, Yellow house in 3rd Place and Blue house in 4th Place.

Awal Ramadhan - 16th May 2018. Ramadhan is the holy month where all Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. Ustaz Hafeezuddeen delivered a short “Tazkirah” to remind all Muslim students the do’s and don’ts during Ramadhan and the benefit of the last 10 days of Ramadhan.

Teachers Day - 16th May 2018. Teachers play very important roles in shaping the future of your child. Activities for Teacher’s day celebrations are a way to celebrate the unparalleled contribution of the teachers in your child’s life. Teachers love the activities performed and the fun games hosted by students on this day.

Islamic Awareness Week Programme - 16th - 31st May 2018. This programme is about reminding our Muslim students of their duties as a Muslim and teaches them “Islam as a Way of life”. A lot of activities were organised during the week such as: daily “Solat Dhuha”, Qur’an recitation, Quiz, Azan, Iqamah and Arabic Khat competitions.

There were special activities organised for the Non Muslim students, such as Quiz and Moral Education activities and at the end of the programme all students received special awards and prizes.

TERM 3 ACTIVITIES FLASH BACK

Term 3 marked a lot of exciting events in school. The following activities were held during Term 3

~ FOR GOD . FOR HUMANITY ~ https:// aiuis.edu.my04-733 6200

NO MOBILE PHONE ! We would like to remind parents that we do not

allow students to bring mobile phones, electronic gadget or toys into the school (unless it is required by the teachers) as they can distract students from

their learning. If a child needs to bring a mobile phone into school, they should hand it in to the

school office before the start of the school day for safekeeping until home time. Parents will also want

to help ensure that their children are safe when using their mobile phone or tablet and will want to

know about what they are sharing online. Any social media site used by children has inherent risks. If any student is found using a mobile phone

during school hours, the mobile phone will be confiscated and the school will return it to the

parents the next day.

Absence Procedures Please remember the absence procedures for the personal matters and sickness. The school must be informed on the first day of absence. It is extremely important as any absences will be recorded as unauthorised if we have not had any explanation or reason why a student is absent from school.

Attendance MattersEvery school day counts towards a child’s progress and attainment.

For your child to achieve their full potential they need to have a minimum of 95% attendance and 95% punctuality.

Unfortunately some students’ attendance since January 2018 until present is very poor and without any notice of their absence.

Where cause for concern arises, School Attendance Panel meetings will be held with all the teachers to help support parents and guardians to improve children’s attendance.

For the ending academic Year 2018, we need parents’ and guardians’ support to help improve students’ punctuality and school attendance.

Parent/guardians of children late to school more than three times in a week or absent without notice will receive a late or absent notice from the school. If the punctuality improves there will be

no further action.

MOBILE PHONE USAGE DURING SCHOOL HOURS

READING WITH YOUR CHILD AT HOME Evidence shows that children who read out

loud daily at home for 15 minutes make huge improvements in their reading ability. Reading

is already a major part of daily activities in school but children who receive extra

individual attention at home make much more progress. With your help, your child can make significant progress, and we appreciate your

support as we work together to give your child the best of opportunities.
