Welcome to Townhead Park

Firstly, I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Rossvale JFC on

their promotion to the Premiership. I would also like to extend a warm

welcome to their committee, management, players and supporters to

Townhead Park for today’s game.

Myself, Scott, Stephen, Billy and John are really looking forward to the

upcoming season. We have implemented our own changes to the

playing squad by going with a young, hungry and enthusiastic group of

boys.

We started our competitive fixtures last Saturday away to Kello Rovers

with a disappointing result, that ultimately led to us not qualifying

through our group. However, the reaction and attitude shown by the

players in our next two games has given me great optimism that this

season can be a successful one.

Rossvale Juniors are a football club from the town of Bishopbriggs. Originally formed in 1976 by John Grey as Woodhill Boys Club, they run youth football teams from under-8 to under-21 level. The decision was taken to set up a Junior section in early 2010 with the aim of allowing ex-youth players to remain in the game at a decent standard and the club joined the Central District Second Division for the start of the 2011–12 season. It didn’t take long for Rossvale to make their mark as they clinched their first Junior honour in March 2015 by winning the 2014–15 Central District Second Division title. A notable player in their victorious squad was former Aberdeen and Scotland striker Robbie Winters. Their fans didn’t have long to wait for the next piece of silverware. Under the stewardship of former Albion Rovers defender Gordan Moffat, they won the West of Scotland League Central District First Division in the 17/18 season.

Their meteoric rise through the leagues continued when they gained promotion to the West of Scotland Premiership by finishing 3rd in the Championship last season. Girls Football Camp

It was a fantastic turn out at the Girls Only

Football Camp at Townhead Park with 25 girls attending. The girls enjoyed the sessions on Day

One, with the focus on dribbling the ball. The CJCE event was funded by East Ayrshire Sports

Council.

Day 2 was focused on shooting like Scottish pro

Jane Ross. The girls took shots against U13 coach Mhari (who plays in goals for Clark Dr Ladies) in a sudden death penalty shoot out.

much as they can. Next year they are looking to double their girls teams from 2 to 4.

What made you sign for Cumnock? I came down to pre season training and felt part of the group straight away, management want to play the style of football that I like so felt it would suit me.

What's been your biggest achievement in football so far? Probs making my debut at Parkhead. Also played at Hampden which was a good experience.

Do you have any pre-match rituals? I like getting down early and getting my stuff out of my bag etc then just being relaxed before the warm up.

What's your opinion on VAR? I think its killing the game flow but nothing more frustrating than a decision going against you that ’s wrong…
