School Council Update
This week, fist we looked at Year 1’s literacy books. Did they meet our high expectations? We were assessing everyone’s effort according to the following band statements: Well done year 1! We could really see an improvement in how much pride you are taking with recording your learning in your literacy books.
Next we looked at the Year 2 literacy books. As you can see, they have an extra area for assessment. It is really important to copy all given vocabulary correctly! We were really impressed by your books as well Year 2, both with the presentation and the content!
It was an intense scrutiny!
School Council Update
Was it your book that impressed J’Varnie?!
Feedback:
Here is some feedback for everyone in Year’s 1 and 2 to keep in mind:
No scribbling! Put one line through any mistakes! It is
important for you and your teachers to see your mistakes. Always write one number in each box, unless specifically told
otherwise by your teachers. Respond to all red pen feedback in green pen! The authors for this entry were Group 1!
Next we will be looking at Year 3’s books according to these standards!
Were you one of the children who really impressed us with your effort with your presentation? Check your literacy book closely for this sticker and a comment from the School Councillor who looked at your book!
Year 5 Poets As part of the school
poetry project Ms Simons’ and Mrs Walker’s Y5 Literacy group put on their creative
caps and came up with some inspiring
poems about the beautiful Northern Lights, trees and
nature.
Selection of poems by our budding poets; Cohen, Charley and Abdullah.
RESULTS OF THE DEBATE MATE CUP
Congratulations to the Debate Mate teams in year 5 and year 6 for taking part in the Debate Mate Cup on Monday 25th April. Two teams made their way to Westminster University where they battled out against schools from all over London. The Year 6 team were unbeaten all day and came 5th out of over 40 teams! The Year 5 team won two of their debates– which was incredible as they were one of the youngest teams in the competition!
What where they debating? A range of issues were debated: 1. Should we ban animal
testing?
2. Should we be forced to exercise every day?
3. Should video games about war be banned for children?
Are you in Year 4 and interested in joining Debate Mate next year? Make sure you keep up to date with any announcements from your teachers to find out how to join the club for next year!

Attendance Update— Summer Term 1 I would like to thank parents for continued support with attendance/punctuality matters this academic year. Improved attendance can only enhance the education of the children at our school. It is great to see so many of the children operating an attendance level in excess of 95% I would also like to remind parents/carers that unless an absence/period of absence is for an exceptional reason it will not be authorised by the school. Holidays during term time will NOT be authorised by the school. Mr Al-Chamaa

Friends of London Fields has taken social
media by storm! Hello Parents and carers,
We’ve started up a Facebook group and Twitter feed for Friends of London Fields and we would love you to join us. They are both great ways to keep in touch with information on fundraising events, what’s been happening at school and useful local listings for families. We hope they’ll be particularly handy if you can’t always be at the school gates but want to know what’s going on. We want to hear from you!
To follow us on Twitter, look for: @folfschool To join us on Facebook search for: Friends of London Fields Primary School
NB. In order to follow school’s safeguarding procedure, the Facebook group is a closed group for parents and carers at school only and everyone who joins it will need to be identified by the administrators first. The group will not post photographs of children at school that can be identified.
