The Feste Burg
“A Mighty Fortress,” the hymn written by Protestant reformer Martin Luther in 1529, is powerful in English but even better in its original German. Historian Michael Streich notes that Luther compares God not only to a fortress but to a completely secure stronghold, or Feste Burg. “A burg was a fortified town,” Streich says. “When invaders approached, the surrounding populace fled to the safety of the walls” — sometimes to layers of walls within walls. Luther’s hymn compares God to the most powerful of all burgs, with eternally unbreakable walls.

THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY
Women’s Bible Study - 3:00pm - off campus
The women of the Old Testament are amazingly relevant to today’s
woman. We will see the cause and effect of their actions. Does the real stuff of life make our character strong or weak? These were
ordinary women, who were important to God and were recorded in his history book. We will study their limitations, choices they
made, their actions on behalf of others and their faith in God. We will also see how Satan still uses some of the same strategy today.
Please call Nancy MacLeod at: 586-752-8481 with any questions.
SUNDAY BIBLE STUDIES
Sunday Bible Studies begin at 9:45am.
God-Centered Worldview - How you look at the world matters!
Please join us in the Sanctuary as we open God’s Word and look at the world we
live in, our prayer is that this study will help you to be grounded in your faith and
gracious in your witness.
Out of Nothing: The Word, Creation and Faith -
Please join us in the Conference room as we ask the question: Was it billions of
grueling years or six very remarkable days?
TUESDAY BIBLE STUDIES
Men’s Bible Study - 6:30am here at Grace in the Conference room.
This study explores our vocation and how we, as children of God, have a place in God’s heavenly kingdom. We also have been given a new status here in God’s earthly kingdom. We will look at this dichotomy and how we balance our lives as Christians in a secular world.
