Chairman, Indigenous Business Australia (formerly the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commercial Development Corporation), since 1996; under Mr Elu’s chairmanship, Indigenous Business Australia has grown from a captial base of $30 million to over $600 million; successful business partnerships include Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort in Western Australia and the Scarborough House refurbishment in the Australian Capital Territory. Inaugural Chairman, Outback Stores (subsidiary company of Indigenous Business Australia), since 2006. Business enterprises established under Mr Elu’s leadership include: Commercial rental accommodation, holiday park and campground, kiosk and restaurant, service station, and supermarket in Seisia; Seisia is located at the tip of Cape York Peninsula; the supermarket allows the community to access healthy fresh produce on a regular basis.
