CXP6000™ Color Server for the Xerox DocuColor® 6060

Digital Color Press

O v e r v i e w

What’s at the upper end of the color spectrum?

CXP6000, of course…®

Commercial printers have a higher set of expectations and requirements when it comes to color. No ordinary

color output will satisfy their discerning eyes or pass their stringent tests of quality. That’s good, because the

CXP6000 Color Server—based on Creo’s Spire™ technology—is no ordinary color server. As the name Creo

has come to denote, it is dedicated to bringing ultimate digital color quality to the Xerox DocuColor 6060

Digital Color Press.

The CXP6000 Color Server exceeds the color expectations of even the highest end commercial printers with

a solution that incorporates sophisticated job management and builds in a baseline level of outstanding color

quality. At the same time, CXP6000 provides the manual control that lets experts exercise their years of color

experience in fine tuning the image quality to levels unprecedented in the industry.

CXP6000™ Color Server for the Xerox DocuColor® 6060 Digital Color Press

Industry leading name…industry defining workflow

The name Creo has been synonymous with out-

standing color for commercial printers. These

shops have carved their place in the market by

supplying superior quality color output to business

and by answering the needs of discriminating

creative agencies and members of the graphics

arts community.

The CXP6000 Color Server combines color

management that yields superb digital color and a

workflow that integrates with—and in many cases

defines—the commercial print shop environment.

Sophisticated color emulations produce astounding

color output even without an operator’s expertise.

Automated color management simulates the color

gamuts and ink sets for popular press standards

such as SWOP. In addition to these automated

tools, Creo builds in manual controls that allow

an experienced operator to adjust color curves

and image quality settings to fine tune color to the

exacting standards of the commercial print industry.

Variable solutions for variable information

If there is momentum in any area of the digital

print market, it is variable information and the

possibility for personalized communications that

it holds. It promises huge new volumes and huge

new profits.

The CXP6000 Color Server offers variable infor-

mation solutions to provide the right amount of

programming power for any situation. Some jobs

are complex with a large degree of variation in

text and graphics and a large number of entries in

the customer database. Others are simpler, with a

smaller degree of variation and a fewer number of

database entries.

Creo’s innovative workflow has proven to be

invaluable to the print industry due to its

independent handling of continuous tone images

and linework. The benefits of this methodology are

many fold. It enhances image quality by applying

the most appropriately matched color management

tools to each element in a print job. Variable

information workflows are supported by allowing

either graphics or text to be changed independently.

And, it seamlessly integrates into existing OPI,

Brisque, and Prinergy printshop environments.

The Creo reputation is well deserved. By combining

it with DocuColor 6060, it provides a powerful

weapon for commercial printers in the battle

for profitability.

High end expectations… high end color

Complex jobs call for a powerful variable information

solution. Xerox Variable_data Intelligent PostScript

Printware (VIPP) is the ideal solution for intricate

variable jobs that require robust programming.

VIPP has proven to be the most powerful and

time-tested variable information solution available

through years of dedicated service on Xerox black

& white equipment.

Creo’s own Variable Print Specification (VPS) has

been designed around an intuitive QuarkXPress™

plug-in called Darwin. What it might surrender

in pure programming power, it makes up for in

ease-of-use.

The CXP6000 Color Server’s biggest variable

information benefit is its flexibility. Regardless

of the type of variable jobs that you fulfill, the

CXP6000 Color Server running on the DocuColor®

6060 Digital Color Press provides the most com-

prehensive variable information solution to let you

take full advantage of this blossoming market.

Color management power

The CXP6000 Color Server harnesses the power

of advanced emulations and transformations to

produce color that will meet the demands of

discriminating commercial printers who have

learned their craft in the world of offset presses.

This offset world is accustomed to arriving at the

highest quality color through manual manipulation

and through the craftsmanship developed over

years of dealing with plates and ink.

Where some other color servers automate much

of their color management and take choice out of

the hands of the operator, CXP6000 understands

the desires of high end commercial print shops

and puts some of the power of color manipulation

in their skilled hands. All of this color management

muscle is wrapped in an easy-to-use interface that

understands that an expert in the world of color

isn’t necessarily an expert in the world of computers.

Xerox and CXP6000 take your expectations very

seriously, giving you all the features you demand:

• Maximize productivity by the selective application

of job ticketing programming through Virtual

Printers. For example, one virtual printer can be

set up using SWOP emulation while a different

virtual printer can be set up to use warmer

looking tones.

• Make better use of system resources by using

OPI-compliant tools to automatically replace

low-resolution pictures used in layout with

high-resolution files for printing.

• Post-RIP Imposition control over the files

allows you to make last minute changes to

the positioning of the images on the page and

choose among finishing templates. Assemble,

edit, and preview entire documents either

before or after a job has been RIPped.

• Use expert-level tools including anti-aliasing,

color gamut simulations, and sophisticated

transformations to handle traps and overprints.

• Enjoy smooth and continuous operation through

a mode which lets actual printing begin while a

job is still being RIPped.

• Job control allows you to manage the flow of

jobs through the server. Stop, reorder, delete, or

reprogram jobs after they have been submitted

to the server.

• RIP only the jobs that will successfully

complete. CXP6000 performs a preflight check

to make sure all the necessary fonts and files

are present before RIPping the job.

• Accepts industry standard file formats including

PostScript Level 1 and 2, PostScript 3, PDF,

TIFF, EPS, and TIFF/IT.
