Shrine Mont is committed to offering camp programs at the most affordable rate possible. However, every family’s circumstances are different, and the costs
of Shrine Mont camps may be burdensome to some. The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia offers a generous scholarship program, honoring its strong belief that no child should be denied a chance to attend a Shrine Mont Camp due to financial constraints.
A commitment to “camp scholarships” (financial assistance) has allowed hundreds of children to attend camp at no cost or at a reduced rate. In 2011 the Diocese of Virginia awarded 70
scholarships, and hopes to offer more assistance in the future. The words of a parent of one scholarship recipient describe the lasting impact that this program has on campers and their families:
My daughter has said many times that she could stay at Shrine Mont all summer. The only way that she and her brother before her have been able to come to Shrine Mont is through scholarships. Without them, they would not have known the fun and joy of camp… When my daughter goes to camp she is free to totally be herself and Shrine Mont makes it easy for her to do that with such a great staff and program ... We can never say “thank you” enough to everyone who gives to the Shrine Mont Scholarship fund.
The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia and Shrine Mont are committed to creating and maintaining the best camp space possible for our camps. In order to maintain our excellent facilities while keeping camp costs down for our campers, we believe it is the time to create a Capital Maintenance Fund. A fund valued at $700,000 will generate approximately $35,000 annually to be used for capital maintenance projects for our three campsites. These projects could be anything from new building for specific programs to capital repairs to existing structures.
Total funds needed for scholarships: $1.4 Million
Total funds needed for Capital Maintenance Fund: $700,000
Shrine Mont camps allow children
the opportunity to see and
experience the world beyond
their neighborhoods and to know
that God’s world has infinite
possibilities for them…
