The fruits of having eemaan (faith) in al-Qadar (the divine pre-decree)

Sheikh Muqbil bin Haadee al-Waadi’ee, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 1

“From the fruits of having eemaan (faith) in al-Qadar (the divine pre-decree) are:

1. Performing the worship of Allah, The Mighty and The Majestic. So, al-Qadar is from that with which we worship Allah – free is He from all imperfection The Most High - by having eemaan in it.

2. Having strong eemaan. So, the one who believes is al-Qadar is unshakeable and he does not pay attention to that which afflicts him in the path of the truth.

3. Bravery, fearlessness and firmness. So, the one who believes in al-Qadar knows that he will not die except when his appointed time comes, and that the trial will not afflict him except for that which was written for him. He does not pay attention to that which afflicts him from harm, calamities and adversities.

4. Peace of mind and the lessening of anxieties and sorrows.

5. Patience and the expectance of reward. And those who do not believe in al-Qadar, perhaps anxiety would lead one of them to disbelieve in Allah, or one of them would go mad, or one of them would become deluded due to whisperings, or one of them would kill himself. And due to this, suicide has increased in the lands in which their people do not believe in al-Qadar, like America, Denmark and Sweden. And that which is predominant with respect to those who are afflicted with nervous

disorders, is that they do not believe in al-Qadar or their eemaan in al-Qadar is

weak.

6. Generosity. So, the one who believes that he does not become poor except if Allah

had pre-decreed it for him, (he) spends (freely) and is not worried (about becoming

poor).

7. Sincerity. So, the one who believes in al-Qadar does not perform an action for the

sake of the people because he knows that they cannot benefit him with anything

which Allah had not pre-decreed, and they cannot harm him with anything which

Allah had not pre-decreed.

8. Reliance, certainty and depending upon Allah and submitting to Him:

﴾ ...قل لن يصيب نا إال ما كتب الله لنا ﴿

Say (O’ Muhammad): Nothing will afflict us except for what Allah has

written for us…)

[Surah At-Tawbah: 51]. 9. Not depending upon the soothsayers, astrologers and illusionists and (not)

wiping with the dirt of the graves (for blessing etc.) and (not) supplicating to

other than Allah and directing anything from the types of worship to other than

Allah. (This is) because he (the one who believes in al-Qadar) knows that these

affairs do not possess any benefit for him which Allah did not intend nor any

harm which Allah did not intend.

10. Being content and not being greedy for the worldly life.

11. Humility. So, if Allah raises him with wealth or status or knowledge or other

than that, then he knows that this is from Allah, and had Allah willed, he could

have taken it away from him. Indeed, He is The All-Capable over everything.

12. Infuriating the innovators, those who pass judgement on the Wisdom of

Allah and His Legislation.”
