October-November 2012 Newsletter The ORNE Community Partnership was set up as a joint venture between Ophir RFC and St Enda’s GAC (Naomh Éanna). The partnership has been hard at work putting together their program of events to run to the end of December 2012. In the months to come the partnership will be participating in a Halloween Festival run from Wednesday the 24 th of October until Tuesday the 30 th with everything from children’s activities, talks on the United Irishmen and Halloween in Northern Ireland to bat box making workshops and a drive in cinema (More information can be found both on the calendar of events and on the Halloween flyer which should be available on both websites); a Christmas drama event with children aged between P1 and P3 taking classes, taking part in a performance and going to see Aladdin in the Courtyard Theatre; a history project in which men from both clubs will be invited to attend a trip to Stormont, see the ‘Release’ play, participate in classes on Ireland during WW1 and travel to Dublin to see Kilmainham Gaol and some of the famous graveyards and a series of training workshops. The ORNE Community Partnership was set up as a joint venture between Ophir RFC and St

Enda’s GAC (Naomh Éanna). The partnership has been hard at work putting together their

program of events to run to the end of December 2012. In the months to come the

Calling All Budding Young Christmas Stars

The ORNE Community Partnership would like to invite you to join in the fun in

our drama classes with Jo Traer, take part in a fantastic Christmas play and

enjoy a trip to see Aladdin in the Courtyard theatre as a treat after the

performance

We haven’t forgotten the parents and guardians either! If you fancy staying for

a cuppa and a chat you might get coached into helping with some costumes

while you wait. The good news is that we would love to treat you too with a

trip to see ‘A Christmas Night with George’ in the Theatre at the Mill on

December 19th at 7:45pm

Northern Ireland: United and Divided

5th November: Trip to Stormont with a tour from MLAs Danny Kinahan and Mitchel

McLaughlin. Leaving Barron Hall at 7pm.

12th November: Theatre of Witness play ‘Release’ in Ballymena Braid Centre. This is

performed by men coming to terms with the legacy of their past in Northern Ireland. Bus

leaving Barron Hall at 7:15pm.

19th November: History of the lead-up to WW1 in Northern Ireland – formation of the 10th,

16th and 36th in the Barron Hall at 7:30pm

26th November: History of the Easter Rising in the Barron Hall at 7:30pm

3rd December: History of the Battle of the Somme and Battle of Messines in the Barron Hall

at 7:30pm

This will be followed by a trip to Dublin for a tour of Kilmainham Gaol and graveyards at a

date that suits the group

ORNE Community Partnership is delighted to announce a series of training opportunities

available for those volunteering or working with Ophir RFC and St Enda’s GAC (Naomh

Éanna).

Safeguarding in Sport:

This training will be held at Ophir RFC from 7pm-10pm on Thursday the 15th of November.

First Aid in Sport including AED Training:

This training requires 2 sessions and will be held in St Enda’s GAC (Naomh Éanna) on

Thursday 6th and Thursday 13th of December from 7pm-10pm.
