We will see just the beginning of basketball season at the endof this month! K-State Men’s basketball plays their seasonopener vs. Washburn at Bramlage Coliseum on Oct. 30. TimeTBA. Their next game will be vs. Emporia State, also atBramlage Coliseum and time TBA.

ShowsK-State Orchestra Performs

Dr. David Littrell will conduct the K-State Orchestra on Tuesday, October 16 at 7:30 pm.Concerts are held in McCain Auditorium, and the October performance will include move-ments from Hindemith and Brahams. Call 785-532-3804 with questions.

McCain Performance Series: October

Oct 5: Bill Engvall performs two shows! The famous comedian from the BlueCollar Comedy Tour will leave a stich in your side. Catch him at 7:00 pm andagain at 9:00 pm at McCain.

Oct 11: The National Circus of the People’s Republic of China, “CirqueChinois” is one of the oldest running circuses from Bejing. Their acrobatics are stunning, to say the least, and this is a show you won’t want to miss! It starts at 7:30 pm.

Oct 19: Dr. John and the Blind Boys of Alabama take the stage at 7:30 pm with their show, “Spirituals to Funk.” This is a first-time partnership between two musical legacies that explores connections between jazz, blues and gospel.

Oct 24-26: Nichols Hall will host Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice. These actors from the London Stage will move youthrough love, betrayal, compassion, anger and everything inbetween. Showtimes are 7:30 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Kansas Water Office is excited toannounce the first Governor’s WaterConference to be held Tues., Oct. 30 andWed., Oct. 31, 2012 at the Hilton Garden Inn& Manhattan Conference Center.

The Governor’s Conference on the Future ofWater in Kansas will highlight the latest policyand research developments of water issues inKansas.

The conference topics include: • New ideas to conserve and extend the Ogallala Aquifer

• An evaluation of Kansas’ water infrastructure• Opportunities to improve Kansas’ water quality

• Meeting water demands for energy and agriculture

“Legislators, state, federal, city and county officials, organizations and citizens who sharean interest in our state’s water resources areencouraged to attend,” said Tracy StreeterKansas Water Office Director: “With record-breaking drought the last two years as well asa record flood last year, there is no bettertime to focus attention to Kansas’ waterneeds.”

What: The new temporary exhibit at the FHDC

Where: The second floor, temporaryexhibit gallery

When: Open now through January, 2013

Who: Efforts were coordinated bythe FHDC staff; the Conservation Division, DPW, Fort Riley; the U.S. Calvary Museum, Fort Riley; The Riley County HistoricalMuseum; Historic Costume and Textile Museum of K-State; and the Morse Department of Special Collections, K-State Libraries.

Why: This exhibit showcases the history of Fort Riley, Manhattan, and K-State and their collaborative growth. Area history is explored from 1853-1917 with some very rare, and unique piecesfound in the exhibit.

Homecoming 2012

It’s homecoming week for K-State!This funfilled week is always packedwith activities for students and alum-ni as well as the community. Wrap It Up is Back!

The annual holiday hot spot for giftsis back on October 25, forManhattan Arts Center membersonly, and officially on the 26th for apublic reception. Hours are from5:30-8 pm for both nights. Theexhibit will run through Monday,December 24.
