It’s Homecoming weekend. The dance. The after-parties. There’s so much to look forward to. But as much excitement as there is, there’s

just as much pressure – pressure to win the game and get the weekend off to a good start.

Despite the pressure and the excitement, the Lions remained focused. Less than halfway through their battle with Greenhill, however, a thunderstorm forced caused the game to come to an abrupt halt, with the Lions leading 7-0. The game was set to resume the next day, Oct. 24.

While they lost their initial momentum, the Lions kept their energy where it was the day before. Even though they had less fans and support for the second part of their game, team

members came together and got each other excited for the game. “There weren’t as many fans on Saturday so we had to come together as a team and fire each other up,” said junior slot receiver Rish Basu.

As they neared the end of the game, the Lions led 21-7 because of a touchdown by senior running back Jackson Cole and a run by senior quarterback Matthew Placide. Late in the fourth quarter, however, the Hornets began to close in on the Lions, bringing the score to 21-14.

A successful field goal by junior kicker Grant Brooks with only three minutes left to play secured the victory for the Lions, as even Hornet’s last minute touchdown failed to tie the game up, resulting in a 24-21 victory for the Lions.
