ATHLETICS AT AIS This is a very important edition of the Lion’s Den Athletic Newsletter. This weekend our AIS JV and Varsity Volleyball teams enter into the KSAA playoff rounds. All 4 teams remain undefeated and will finish up regular season league play this week. Please refer to the coming events section of the newsletter for a list of dates and times for playoff games. It is important to point out that we are hosting all KSAA playoff games at our school and fan support for these games would be greatly appreciated. I am requesting your assistance in “spreading the word”. Please announce the games to your classes, print the schedule provided in this newsletter and post it in your room, or simply direct the students to the athletic bulletin board in the canteen for game information. I will e-mail the final schedule for this weekend’s games to all staff at the end of this week. In case you are wondering why you should come and watch (outside of supporting the kids) I have included “4 Surprising Health Benefits of Being a Sports Fan”.

4 SURPRISING HEALTH BENEFITS OF BEING A SPORTS FAN 1. It inspires you to be active. 2. Watching live sports is a workout in itself, jumping, cheering, clapping, etc… 3. Research says you will live longer because of being social. Maintaining a strong social network improves your chance of living longer by 50%. Therefore take friends to the AIS games!!!! 4. It will make you smarter. A study from the University of Chicago found it is a workout for your brain. By Cristina Goyanes from Prevention a Health Magazine
