CME MISSION STATEMENTTPMA is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. TPMA has approved this activity for a maximum of 25 continuing education contact hours. The 2018 TPMA Southwest Foot and Ankle Conference is intended for licensed podiatric physicians and their assistants to develop and improve the podiatric knowledge and competency to better serve the citizens of Texas and the surrounding states. Throughout the program, the above-mentioned target participants will learn about various foot and ankle pathologies and their evidence-based treatment option via lectures, case discussion, hands-on workshop, and manuscript presentation formats. Safety, efficacy, cost effectiveness and quality improvements of multiple aspects of clinical podiatric management will be discussed. Program, schedule, and CE contact hours are subject to change without notice. Speakers and sponsors are required to disclose significant financial relationships and provide disclosure and written agreements to TPMA with any and all commercial products discussed during the presentation per CPME 720 guidelines.

DPM PROGRAM OBJECTIVESAt the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to formulate a diagnostic work up, recognize the advantages and disadvantages of various forms of treatment for ankle and foot pathology and discuss their topics. Integrated within the conference format are academic lectures, hands on labs and open question and answer sessions. The diversity of this meeting will shape the way that we treat patients and their pathologies.

ASSISTANT PROGRAM OBJECTIVES The attendees will learn the role of the front office and back office podiatric assistant. The program is designed for office managers and assistants in the front office and back office. The attendees will learn common podiatric language, hands on procedures, triage techniques, marketing and communication skills to deal with patients.

In this presentation we will discuss the details of which services are being audited and why (including proper documentation to support visit level), and the realities of being duped into purchasing equipment and providing services that may be deemed “non-covered. Objective: Sometimes we become too comfortable with our “work family” and lose sight of what is most important; taking care of our patients. By taking a close look at our practice culture/environment and recognizing areas in need of improvement, we can quickly begin to increase productivity, the quality of care that we provide to our patients and level of respect that we show to our fellow team members and ourselves.
