Fall, in all of its color and glory, is upon us. We hope for a few more warm and sunny days to
linger on, but know that the cooler, damp days of the fall and winter season will soon be here.
Fall is a time of harvest and thanks for the bounty of our labor during the summer months.
And, the last quarter of the year is still a busy time of year, and is no time for us to rest on our
laurels.
At last, we are in the final month of the 2016 Election season. Please join us this Thursday, Oc-
tober 6th for the 2016 Candidates Forum. Your chamber is partnering with the Clark County
League of Women Voters to put on this year’s Candidates Forum, and we promise a great oppor-
tunity to hear from candidates for the 18th Legislative District, the Clark County Council, and our
Public Utilities District.
We have two great networking events this month. Next Thursday, October 13th, Mallard Landing
is hosting this month’s Business After Hours (4:30-6:30pm). Our Business After Hours events
are geared to give you the opportunity to meet and network with other business professionals at
the end of the day in a relaxed environment. The folks at H&R Block know how to put on a great
spread for those who attend. Please join us.
After a successful rollout in September, we are continuing our new morning networking event:
North County Networking. This is a structured networking event that is a little like speed dating
for business, and it’s designed to help you meet more potential business partners and customers.
We moved this morning networking event from the 4th Wednesday to the 4th Friday morning from
7:30-9:00am, and hope to see you at Mill Creek Pub on Friday morning, October 28th.
From 4:00-6:00pm on Halloween afternoon, we will be coordinating the Halloween Kids Fun
Fest all along Main Street in Old Town Battle Ground, with activities also happening at Mallard
Landing Assisted Living, Victory Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, and the Battle Ground
Community Center. This is a fun and safe environment for parents to bring kids out to trick or
treat, and also great visibility for your business. If you aren’t located in Old Town, call the
Chamber at (360) 687-1510. We are hosting “Trunk or Treat” for those who want to setup cano-
pies or vehicles on 4th Avenue right next to the Chamber’s office.
Stay tuned for other events in November, but I also want you to save the date on your calendar
for our annual Holiday Luncheon. One of the Chamber’s most popular annual events, the 12th
Annual Holiday Luncheon, is coming up on December 8th. Despite a tornado roaring through
town last year, we almost filled every seat at the Battle Ground Community Center and hope to
do so again this year. We are looking for your support as we prepare. We will be looking for vol-
unteers, sponsors, table sponsors, gift baskets and attendees for this fun annual event. We prom-
ise fun ways to get involved and a great opportunity to have a great time celebrating the holiday
season.
Thank You,
Brian Teegardin
2016 Board Chair
