Parish News
We are excited and looking forward to the new ecclesiastical year. All our ministries are in full
swing and we are in need of more parishioners to become involved. We would like to remind
all parents that our Youth programs have started. As parents it is our duty and responsibility to
bring our children to church so they can learn and understand our faith. We look forward to
seeing all of our Parish families.
Parish Council On September 13
th the Parish Council sponsored the Sunday coffee hour in honor of Vasilios
Palaskas. Mr. Palaskas was a devoted parishioner and a committed parish council member for
many years. He will be sorely missed in our community. May his memory be eternal.
The monthly Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday, October 19th at 7 PM.
Philoptochos News
Our sincere appreciation to all Philoptochos members and friends of the parish who helped with
the preparations for our Feast Day and Greekfest celebrations. With the help of many, we cleaned
the church, adorned the icon of the Theotokos for the Paraklesis services, baked for and hosted the
reception for the August 14th Great Vespers, and did much of the baking and cooking for Greekfest.
A big “thank you” to those who put in long hours preparing for, working at, and cleaning up after
Greekfest, especially those who helped by washing the aprons and dish towels at their homes.
The Philoptochos Society will hold its annual Autumn Bazaar Saturday and Sunday, October 24th
and 25th. (See flyer for details.) Please join us for our traditional celebration of the fall season.
We’ll have delicious Greek food and pastry, raffles, a penny sale, and other gifts.
We need volunteers to help at the bazaar, as well as donations of pastry and new gifts for the
penny sale table.
Please contact a Philoptochos Board member for more information, or to volunteer your services.

The Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC) at St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center
329 Camp Merrimac Road, Contoocook, NH
About the MBC Campsite & Facilities: In 1998 the Metropolis of Boston purchased land in the Foothills
of the White Mountains in Contoocook, NH and named it the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center.
This Land became the home of the ever popular Metropolis of Boston Camp Program (MBC). The campsite
itself has an interesting history being a town (Cloughville) a little over a hundred years ago, and ever since
then has been a camp. Two of the buildings that are currently in use are original structures from
Cloughville; the Office was the Print Shop and the Chapel was the town barn. Since the time of purchase
every building on the camp has either been renovated or built new. We now sit on about 50
acres of developed property that includes 13 new cabins, a Chapel, Cafeteria, fully functional
waterfront, Rec-Hall, Basketball & Volleyball Courts as well as a Retreat House which features 35
individual Guestrooms with Private Baths. Come and visit!

GREEKFEST 2015
Thank You to All!
On behalf of the 2015 GreekFest Committee, I would like to extend congratulations and
gratitude to all of the volunteers and donors who contributed in any way in making this year’s
Greekfest successful. It could not have been possible without each and every one of you.
Many of you put in countless hours planning during months of meetings, while others organized
the baking and cooking preparations prior to the event. Many worked tirelessly, days before,
during and after Greekfest. Although many believe that the hard work ends Sunday evening at
the close of festivities, it does not. All the tables, chairs and supplies that are set up need to be
taken down, and all the equipment, pots and pans need to be washed and put away as well.
So, thank you to EVERYONE, including our Philoptochos members, our young adults, our Parish
Council members and all the volunteers who continued working and cleaning up all week after
Greekfest was over. A special thank you to those who donated towards the items needed for
the Finikia and Kourambiethes.
Our sincere gratitude, as well, to all those who supported this event by donating in any way,
including our Corporate Sponsors, Ad/Program book donors and sponsors, and the food and
supplies donors. Those donors are: Billy’s Famous Pizza, Souvlaki’s Pizza, Salona’s Pizza,
Hannaford, Dunkin Donuts, TGIF, Olive Garden, 99 Restaurant, Panera Bread, Texas Road
House, British Beer Company and Chipotles. It is this combined effort of so many coming
together as one for the good of our parish that makes me especially proud to be a member of
the Assumption Church.
With Sincere Appreciation,
Costa Georgopoulos
2015 GreekFest Chairman
