The purpose of Title I funding, “is to en-

sure that all children have a fair, equal,

and significant opportunity to obtain a

high quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic

achievement standards and state academic assessments.” Our Title I Coordinator, Ms. Gibbs,

discussed the importance of school wide versus individual utilization of funds prior to the survey.

On September 3, sadly, we lost a huge limb from our

favorite tree that shades our picnic tables. It blocked the

sidewalk making an obstacle course for students entering

the building. Rachel, clearly, had no problem getting

into school. Throughout life, we often have to overcome

obstacles in order to achieve goals. The Academy at Old

Cockrill works hard to help students overcome their ob-

stacles and to be successful.

Mr. Duffy utilizes a deck

of cards to help teach

students about

compounded

probability.

Ms. Gibbs encourages

and helps students to

write and publish books

and create scrapbooks for

capstone projects as she

teaches and reinforces

English skills.

Mr. Duffy reinforces

geometry skills such as

the Pythagorean Theorem

by having students draw

pictures to scale.

Mr. Carter didn’t

of school as the

Principal at The
