The number of people coming to CHOPIN Hall for assistance has
increased substantially from 2012 which has stretched CHOPIN
Hall’s budget. It is anticipated that with SNAP (formerly called food
stamps) assistance being cut that our numbers will continue to
increase. For this reason, CHOPIN Hall is in need of additional
monetary donations to cover our food/diaper assistance for people
in-need in our community.

Held on two Saturdays a month, mobile food pantries offer
an additional venue for people to get food. They also assist
those who work and may not be able to get to CHOPIN
Hall for assistance during the week, but still need help with
getting enough food for their families. In 2012, over 21,500
pounds of food was given away through mobile food pantries
to over 16,000 individuals.
Following are the numbers of individuals helped with food at
each recent mobile food pantry.

CHOPIN Hall Mobile Food Pantries
Findlay Service League members teamed up with First Presby-
terian Church to run the October 12 mobile food pantry.
Service League members purchased personal care products
and handed them out to each household. Items purchased
included laundry detergent, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste/
toothbrushes, and dental floss. The group ran two shifts of
volunteers to help hand out food and personal care products.
Those receiving assistance from the event greatly appreciated
getting the personal care products. CHOPIN
Hall hopes to team up with more groups and
organizations to do the same thing at other
mobile food pantries in 2014.

The University of Findlay and Sodexo are again teaming to sponsor a food drive to benefit CHOPIN Hall.
Non-perishable food will be collected for the Helping Hands Across America drive on November 6 at the
University of Findlay. A drive-up drop-off site will be located in front of the Alumni Memorial Union on
Frazer Street. Event planners hope to again break the record set the previous year for pounds of food
collected. To set a new record, over 47,000lbs of food will need to be collected. When dropping off your
donation please keep in mind that canned fruit is especially needed by CHOPIN Hall.
