October 2010 OMILO update
Dear OMILO friends, ,
We hope you all had a very nice summer and started the new
school year or working year with a
lot of energy!
After our two intensive courses in Syros during the month of
September, the OMILO-team is nowback in Athens. Once back, we first
have served all the email-students : corrected their lessons
and sent their new homework by email. If anybody would like more
info on the email lessons,
just contact us!
After that, we started to teach the several 10-week courses in
Maroussi. These courses take place
twice weekly, and is for 95% booked by non-Greeks living
permanently in Greece. Athens has a
big foreign community, which realizes that learning Greek
definitely makes their life a bit easier
and pleasant, while living in Athens!
What happened the last weeks and what will happen soon ?
1. The big news is .we have put now online the new data for
2011. Many people asked usfrequently for the 2011 course dates, in
order to book early and cheap flights to Greece.

The Spanish version is not updated yet since I need help from a
Spanish speaker, who will be
available in some weeks.
The Greek version will be updated in a month, since we do not
believe any Greek will already
check the website in October/November in order to book a course
for 2011 (for his partner)!Booking early is usually not in the
Greek genes! (joke ).
We therefore will try to complete the other languages first!

2. During the following weeks the website will be continuously
updated with new information
about Andros island (June course) , new photos of the 2010
courses, etc. Please be patient! If
you have any ideas for making the website better, we are all
ears!

3. For those not living in Athens, we still organize a 6-day
intensive course from Monday
November 15th till Saturday November 20th, 2010 . If you already
miss Greece and would like
to charge your batteries before the winter starts, you are very
welcome. Athens has a lot of culture
to offer and is much safer than any foreign TV-channel might
tell you! November is also a very
good month to explore the city.
The levels we offer in this course is BEG2, INT1, INT2 and ADV1.
The price is 370 Euro for 24
hours of lessons (6 days from 9.30 till 13.30), text book,
and the usual activities during the afternoons. Since we
have updated the web-site with the 2011 info now, you can
only find this 2010 November info on the web-site in the
Greek version or Spanish

4. An Australian student in the 12/9-24/9 September course in
Syros, started a flickr-page for
sharing photos. Different students of that course already
uploaded their photos as well as
OMILO. We will also have a link from the OMILO website to the
flickr page soon. There are
many beautiful photos there of very good photographers..

You will see the new courses prices online as well. A short
explanation:
Our course prices stayed at the same price for 2 years and will
now increase with 3,5 to 5%.(about
20 Euro per course) Everybody knows by now that financially
things in Greece changed and the
government is desperately trying to collect money from anywhere.
Taxes, VAT, gasoline, transport,
etc.all went up and the daily cost of living in Greece raised
tremendously during the last years. If
we would like to keep the same standards for our daily living
and operating cost in Greece, weneeded to raise the course price
with at least 15%. However, it is crisis everywhere, and we try
our
very best to keep the prices as low as possible.

Ex-students that book a 2-week course for a 3rd time (or more)
with OMILO, will get a reduction
of 20 Euro. Those that have booked 10 courses with OMILO get
something special! (we have 3
students sofar!).
We could convince the pension owners to keep the accommodation
prices at the same price as last
year. Unfortunately they had a bad touristic season in 2010 but
do not have any extra personnel
cost (they work with family), so agreed to keep the prices the
same. Only for the Androsaccommodations we still wait for an
answer.
