Delivery Systems in Cosmetic Formulations – Roles, Properties and Future Development
Nava Dayan Ph.D.
Lipo Chemicals, Inc.
The presentation will discuss the definition of delivery systems in the cosmetics world, their roles and properties in general. The core of the presentation will focus on the site of action in the skin of different actives and the design of an appropriate delivery system to assure increased efficacy, while reducing adverse effects. Among the actives will be anti-aging, skin lightening, anti-acne and delivery systems for superficial application. Speaker Bio:
Dr. Dayan earned her BS in Pharmacy with distinction from the Hebrew University of Jeru-salem in Israel. She continued her studies at the university, earning her MS in Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology with distinction, specializing in skin pharmacology. Finally Dr. Dayan earned her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, specializing in semi-solid formulations for topical applica-tion and skin delivery systems.
Dr. Dayan has received numerous excellence awards for various papers she has au-thored. Dr. Dayan held various positions at companies in Israel before joining Lipo Chemicals Inc. in the United States in May of 2000. Her field of expertise includes skin delivery systems (Cosmetics and Pharmaceutics), skin pharmacology, and formulations science. Her interests in-clude research and technical writing. Dr. Dayan is one of the founders of the Israeli Society of Cosmetic Chemists. She is also a mem-ber of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the International Controlled Re-lease Society and the US Society of Cosmetic Chemists.

It’s that time of year again. See pages 5 and 9 for details of this year’s Holiday Dinner Dance. A large part of the success of the Holiday Dinner Dance is the generous sponsorship we receive from many of our member companies. Sponsorship can be provided in the form of Gift Baskets or purchased gifts not exceeding a total of $150.00. In addition, you can purchase corporate tables of 8 for $800.00 or tables of 10 for $1000.00. We would be honoured to include your company name among our sponsors. At the SCC National meeting in December 1995, Ontario became the newest SCC chapter. And we've been going strong for the last 10 years! At the November chapter meeting, we are planning a special birthday celebration! Please join us on November 10th at the Venetian for our chapter meeting. Dr. Nava Dayan from Lipo Chemicals will be speaking and we will have our 2006 officer installation. We will be holding a draw for 10 $100 gift certifi-cates from a variety of businesses. On December 2nd , 2004 the SCC Ontario Chapter will be holding its tenth Annual Holiday Dinner Dance at The Venetian Banquet & Hospitality Centre, 219 Romina Drive, City of Vaughan, ON, L4K 4V3 (tel: 905-264-9960) Start the evening at 6:00 p.m. by enjoying the specialties from the Antipasto Table. Dinner will follow at 7:00 p.m. SHARP. Education Day 2005!
On Thursday, September 29th, over 70 people attended our Education Day at the Venetian Banquet Hall. During the morning session, Joseph Dallal from ISP presented hair care formulation strategies and efficacy testing strategies. The afternoon session included an over-view on skin care formulation by Patrick Obukowho from ARL. After cocktails and a great dinner, we were treated to an inspirational presentation by Rob Nickel.
