This past weekend, I realized that when I thanked AnneRogers for all the years she worked with Meals & More, I failed to

also acknowledge her daughter Terri who has been there at herside from the beginning. And there are others too, too many tomention here, who have also been founding members of thatministry or who have given many years of service to it. So againto all of them, we give thanks & recognize the good you havedone.

This Stephens Meals & More Ministry has continuedto run smoothly under the direction of Deacon Pete and thefaithful volunteers who keep showing up week after week. If youwould like to lend a hand, even if only on occasion, to thisgenerous group of people, please let Deacon Pete know. Im surehell always be on the watch for people who can cook or help inother ways too, like baking desserts.

This Wednesday the priests of the Diocese will begathering for a Presbyteral Convocation or coming together forprayer & discussion. The topic of the guest speaker will beIntercultural Competence for Todays Priest is Way BeyondBeing Multicultural. Ya, I dont know what means either, but Ihope Ill find out! Please pray for us. Each time a member of theclergy is brought into the spotlight as was the case last week, thewhole fraternity of priests suffers. We too are faced withquestions, doubts, confusion, frustration and the sad reality of sinwhich discriminates against no one. So our first duty under suchcircumstances is to pray, first for ourselves & then for all Godspeople. We pray for understanding, endurance, forgiveness, resolve, and an even greater commitment to the way of Christ andservice to his Church. Please pray with us and for us that God may

dispel the darkness and bring us into the light.I am enjoying the beautiful weather weve been having

this month. But we all know that it wont last, so savor it whileyou can.

Why is the Church not a democratic organization?

Democracy operates on the principle that all powcomes from the people. In the Church, however, all power comfrom Christ. Christ himself is the one who acts in the Churwhen ordained ministers, by Gods grace, do or give somethithat they could not do or give by themselves such as administerithe sacraments. Christ entrusted the entire faith to a group twelve apostles, who successors govern the Church with the Popresiding as the successor to St. Peter.
