+ MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS +
November opens on the 2nd with the Commemoration of All The Faithful Departed.
All Souls Envelopes are included in the packet many receive by mail and are also on the pamphlet rack in the lobby for your convenience.
The envelopes with names listed will abide by the al-tar during the month in solemn remembrance.
The intention of the November Novena of Masses will
be for all who are so memorialized.
“The right to criticize: the right to hold unpopular beliefs; the right to protest; the right of independent thought. The
exercise of these rights should not cost one single American citizen his reputation
or his right to a livelihood… Otherwise none of us could call our souls our own.”

OCTOBER 16, 2016
IS THE COSTUMER ALWAYS RIGHT ANYMORE?
With the hyper sensitivity in all quarters over every issue these days — even in the costume department - I would suggest that we, as Catholics, harmonize with the tenor of the times by objecting strenu-ously to the donning of the following Hallowe’en get ups: priests, nuns, prelates and popes – especially those with risqué or disgraceful overtones.
Current society has made it clear that the age of being good sports about such things is over and so, taking a cue from “the signs of the times”, we too should be vocal if not vociferous in defending the dig-nity of our Catholic culture.
How can we purport to champion respect for others, defending their dignity, if we have so little self esteem as to allow ourselves to be de-meaned?
It is said that “People will treat you the way you let them.” The trick is to insist on the highest regard.
Father Travers
