THE HEAVENLY BANQUET The mountain of the Lord de-scribed in today’s first reading is a place where there is no more hun-ger, no more weeping, and no more division of any kind. We need to pause and ponder these images every now and then, especially giv-en the fact that we live in such a fractured world. The responsorial psalm continues to paint a picture of a place where only goodness and kindness flourish. These readings describe the heavenly banquet, to which God calls each of us through baptism and continues to call us throughout our lives. Let us “RSVP” to God’s invita-tion and live our lives consistent with gospel values so that one day we will be welcomed to the table of the kingdom.
EL BANQUETE CELESTIAL El monte del Señor descrito en la primera lectura de hoy es un lugar donde no hay más hambre, ni llanto, ni ningún tipo de división. Ne-cesitamos detenernos y pensar so-bre estas imágenes de cuando en cuando, especialmente dado el he-cho de que vivimos en un mundo tan fragmentado. El salmo responsorial continúa pintando el cuadro de un lugar donde sólo florecen la bondad y la generosidad. Estas lecturas des-

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of our Mother Mary, the International Pil-grim Virgin Statue of Fatima is touring the United States and is coming to our parish, St An-thony Claret. You are invited to come and hear the story of Fatima and feel the presence of our Lady. For Mary promised “My immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way to that will lead you to Jesus. St. Anthony Claret had a strong love and devotion to the immaculate Heart of Mary. The novena to our Lady of Fatima will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Prayer to St. Anthony Claret St. Anthony Mary Claret, during your life on earth you often comforted the afflict-ed and showed such tender love and compassion for the sick and sinful. In-tercede for us now that you rejoice in the reward of your virtues in heavenly glory. Look with pity on us and grant our pray-er, if such be the will of God. Make our troubles your own. Speak a word for us to the Immaculate Heart of Mary to ob-tain, by her powerful intercession, the grace we yearn for so ardently, and a blessing to strengthen us during life. Assist us at the hour of death and lead us to happy eternity. Amen

Dear Friends in Christ, I am so overjoyed to have received so much prayers, support, and your love on my day of Installation as your Pastor on October 1st! This will always be a memorable day for me and our Community of Faith. I will continue to take the inspiration from St. Therese of Lesieux, the patroness of all missionaries, to begin my new mission with all of you here at St. Anthony Claret as your servant-leader. While we are familiar to one another, my prayer and hope is that we will always continue to discover the blessings of the Lord, to grow spiritually together, and to bear even greater fruits of the Spirit. I am most grateful to Bishop Kevin Vann for his confidence and trust he has given me in this appointment as your Pastor. I am also thankful to each of you for allowing me to accompany you in your journey of faith. This is a true gift and privilege that I will cherish and honor through my ministerial service and my commitment to all of you. I would like to thank all of our parishioners, especially the teams of volunteers and groups who gave of their time, talent, and treasures in making the celebration so special: SAC Staff, Liturgical Committee, Pastoral Council, Finance Council, Reception & Entertainment Committees, Filipino Cursillo Friendship Group, Confirmation Youth Group, the VCSA college students, and my family and friends. Queridos Amigos en Cristo, ¡Estoy muy contento de haber recibido tantas oraciones, apoyo y amor en mi día de Instalación como Párroco el 1ro de Octubre! Este será siempre un día memorable para mí y nuestra Comunidad de Fe. Continuaré tomando la inspiración de Santa Teresa de Lesieux, la patrona de todos los misioneros, para comenzar mi nueva misión con todos ustedes aquí en San Antonio Claret como su servidor-líder. Mientras nos conocemos los unos a los otros, mi oración y esperanza es que siempre podamos seguir descubriendo las bendiciones del Señor, crecer espiritualmente juntos y dar aún mayores frutos del Espíritu. Estoy muy agradecido con el Obispo Kevin Vann por su confianza que me ha dado al asignarme como su Párroco. También estoy agradecido con cada uno de ustedes por permitirme acompañarlos en su camino de fe. Any funds over the goal will come back to our parish for our own projects: Renovation of the church vestibule, church roof, painting. Please continue to make your payments.
