IN-DEEP CTFputs a breakfast on every Friday at Grosvenor Hall, VincentStreet, SW1 from 8.30 am - 12.00 pmHere over 50's can come and have a full English breakfast, avegetarian breakfast or a low cholesterol breakfast (as many ofthe elderly suffer from health problems such as diabetes whichplaces restrictions on their diets). A range of sandwiches andsnacks ia also on offer. Approximately 30 - 35 people attend.It is from the breakfast that they have seen many friendshipsgrow between the elderly in our community and including thosefrom other cultures.

On the 4th Saturday of the month from 12.00 am - 3.00 pm athree course dinner consisting of soup, topside of beef andYorkshire pudding or Roast Chicken and stuffing, roast potatoes,three veg and peaches & cream.dinner is provided. Beef isserved because it is a good source of iron, and many people cannot afford beef as they are on low incomes. They have 50 -55 people attending. (All Ages Welcome)

Since starting the dinners it has grown and proved to be a popu-lar meeting place in the community.

COMPLIMENTARY THERAPY SCHEMEManicures & PedicuresAlongside their breakfasts and dinners they provide a manicureand pedicure service by qualified professionals which is very popular.

This is a morale boosting activity for many as a lot of the elderlysuffer from depression and low self - esteem and the manicureand pedicure service provides a boost.

MassagesAlongside the breakfast, twice a month from 9.30 am - 12.00 pmthey are running massage sessions for the over 50's by a qualified masseuse.

Since starting in April 2004 it has proved to be very successfuland they have had a big response - massages are arranged onan appointment basis and they book about 20 people each session.

They find that it is having a lot of health benefits including helpingalleviate the painful symptoms of osteoporosis and helps boostcirculation.

PUMPHOUSE, CHURCHILL GARDENS ROAD, PIMLICOSome of the capitals most concealed landmarks were open tovisitors for the annual Open House London weekend on the 22-23 September 2012. CityWest Homes very own Pimlico DistrictHeating Undertaking (PDHU), the UK’s first combined heat andpower network, was one of them.

Located in heart of London, the PDHU provides heating and hotwater services to 3,256 homes, 50 commercial premises and

threeschoolsvia 5kmof heatingmains.Built inthe1950s,the net-workwas thefirstmajor

initiative to combat London’s air pollution, ahead of the Clean AirAct of 1956.

Its original use was to reduce heat waste from Battersea PowerStation and to supply housing that, needing no coal fires, could

be built without adding to London smog. The network has a thermal store (a 41 metre tall tower), which stores 2,300 tonnesof water just below boiling point. Visitors were able to view theimpressive engines used to power PDHU, or climb up the towerfor a view of Westminster and the Thames.

Battersea Power Station closed down in 1980.
