I am encouraged by
the growing interest
in TIME Task Force
initiatives.
From the well-
attended quarterly
meeting at the GSP
headquarters in
Atlanta to the
upcoming commercial
vehicle rescue course
in Cartersville,
participation is on the
rise for all of our
programs.
I am also pleased that the recent quick
clearance workshop conducted in Catoosa
County with the I-95 Corridor Coalition has
helped create a new traffic incident
management (TIM) team to serve Gordon,
Whitfield, Catoosa, Walker and Dade
counties.
Stay tuned — more TIME opportunities are
on the horizon. We will update all events
online at the TIMEtaskforce.com site.

TRIP Spotlight: Martins Garage Services & Wrecker
Cartersville-based Martins Garage Services &
Wrecker has provided towing and recovery
services since 1972.
In addition to its services, the Martins full-
service operation includes an automotive repair
shop and gas station. The company also
provides quick clearance services in responding
to TRIP incidents.
“The biggest benefit we have received since
being part of the TRIP program is being
recognized by police and fire officials and the
community for handling accident scenes in a safe and timely manner,” Rodney Martin said of
his family’s company. “With the TRIP program in our area we have a TIM meeting that allows
us to recognize law enforcement, fire department and other agencies as well as our
Commissioner and Mayor.”
Meeting Recap: April 2012 Quarterly
Attendees filled the media room of the Georgia Department of Public Safety / State Patrol
Headquarters in Atlanta during the recent TIME Task Force quarterly meeting.
This meeting included an incident debrief covering a crash on I-20 in Newton County
involving six school buses and more than 60 injured students. Responding officers shared
how multiple agencies and jurisdictions drew on the training and cooperative resources to
clear the large interstate crash.
A representative of the firm that designed the new diverging diamond interchange (DDI) at
Ashford Dunwoody Road and I-285 described the steps taken to maximize driver safety as
the new configuration debuted at the busy interchange.
Speakers from the Department of Driver Services provided an overview of the categories of
personal identification Georgians will need to supply in order to obtain a more secure
driver’s license in the future. A complete update of the new license requirements is available
at dds.ga.gov/secureid.
A special thanks to presenters Scott Edmondson, Allen Marlowe, William Ruhsam, Kyle
Tanner, Lance Taylor, Kofi Wakhisi and our other speakers. For more information about
sponsoring a future TIME Task Force meeting, please contact Program Committee Chair

2012 TIME Annual Conference Celebrating 10 Years of Traffic Incident
Management Enhancement
The TIME Task Force is please to announce that its 10th Annual Conference will take place
Oct. 22-23 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Roswell.
The theme, "TIMELine, Celebrating 10 Years of Traffic Incident Management Enhancement,"
centers on the incident management timeline and our purpose of ending the crippling effects
that traffic incidents have on mobility, economic vitality and safety.
This conference is the premier event connecting policy makers, emergency responders,
transportation system managers and other stakeholders addressing incident clearance and
roadway safety.

Now is the best time to make plans to
support the silent auction portion of the
TIME annual conference.
Funds raised during the auction help offset
conference expenses, making it possible for
the TIME Task Force to offer reduced-cost
registration fees for public safety and first
responder attendees.
Virtually any item imaginable would be
appropriate, especially fun package deals or
vouchers for professional services. Other
auction materials could include the tools and
equipment necessary to perform daily job
duties.
The always-popular gift baskets will also be
available. The TIME Task Force is
encouraging businesses, agencies and
individuals to engage in some “friendly
competition” while creating the most
desirable collection for bidders’
consideration.
For information about the auction, please
contact Melinda Hanks at 404.320.1776 ext.
2800 or [email protected].
The TIME Task Force web presence is undergoing
substantial revisions to include new design and features
benefiting all of our visitors.
