COURSE OUTCOMES :
Upon successful completion of this subject the students will be able to:
1. Describe the historical development of Occupational Therapy (C2, PLO1)
2. Identify the domain and processes in occupational therapy. (C2, PLO1)
3. Identify and discuss role of roles and responsibilities of Occupational Therapist and
multi-disciplinary team (MDT). (C2, PLO4)
4. Describe code of ethics in occupational therapy. (C2, PLO6)
5. Identify the models, frame of references and approaches in occupational therapy
practices. (C2, P1, A2, PLO3)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course introduces student to the profession and foundation concepts of Occupational
Therapy, theoretical framework, philosophy and historical foundation underpinning current
Occupational Therapy practice
SYLLABUS CONTENT
1. Introduction to historical development of Occupational Therapy profession in Malaysia
and in Western countries.
2. Introduction to Occupational therapy

3. Introduction to the domains in Occupational therapy practices based on Occupational
Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF)
4. Introduction to the process in Occupational therapy based on Occupational Therapy
Practice Framework (OTPF)
5. Identify the function, roles and responsibilities of Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT).
6. Introduction to the Occupational Therapy code of ethics.
7. Introduction to the models, frame of references and approaches in occupational therapy
practices.
8. Identification of recording and reporting in occupational therapy.

ASSESSMENT
The student will be assessed as follows:
