AWARDS LIST - 2015

The following is a listing of awards available for graduating students only (December 2014, May or August 2015, degree completion dates). An official application for each award must be sent to the appropriate office or individual in order for you to be considered as a candidate. Additional blank applications are available at the Student Life Office, College Center, Room 104. SILVER AWARDS: ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF OCEAN COUNTY COLLEGE AWARDS (In memory of Thomas J. Brady): Student government presents $250 to graduating students displaying consistently strong record of involvement in the co-curricular program. SUBMIT APPLICATION TO: Allison Irwin, Student Life Office, College Center Room 104 JOHN MORRISON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: $200 awarded to a graduating student transferring to a four year institution. Who has been an active participant of the Speech and Theatre Club and/or participated in OCC’s Performing Arts programs. SUBMIT APPLICATION TO: Elizabeth Brierley, Assoc. Prof. of Humanities, Room GRUN B105 PHI THETA KAPPA HEATHER MUSER MEMORIAL ALUMNI AWARD: $200 awarded by the Alumni Association of Phi Theta Kappa of Ocean County College to a member of Phi Theta Kappa who has made significant contributions to the programs and activities sponsored by Tau Iota Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. SUBMIT APPLICATION TO: Dr. William Rickert, Prof. of Mathematics, Russell Building, Room R112 PHI THETA KAPPA FRATERNITY AWARD: $200 awarded to a student who best exemplifies the ideals of the Phi Theta Kappa fraternity, making significant contributions to the work of the Tau Iota Chapter, promoting intellectual and cultural growth. The recipient must exemplify the ideas of Phi Theta Kappa as set forth in the four Hallmarks, namely: Leadership, Scholarship, Service and Fellowship. NOVINS SCHOLARSHIP FOR CONTINUED STUDY: $1,000 awarded to a graduating student continuing in a four-year institution, majoring in Political Science and Government Studies, with a 3.0 GPA or Better. KING MEMORIAL GRADUATE FUND: $1,000 awarded to a graduate of the Criminal Justice program pursuing a four-year degree in Criminal Justice. Student should demonstrate leadership, scholarship and need. JOSEPH J. QUATTROCK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $600 awarded to a graduating “Non-Traditional” student in good standing who has clearly demonstrated signs of academic potential in the areas of Business Administration, Computer Science or related curriculum and will be transferring to a four-year institution. ZITELLI SCHOLARSHIP IN LEADERSHIP: up to $5,000 awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated a leadership role within the OCC community or the community at large and will be transferring to a four-year institution. SUBMIT APPLICATION TO: Allison Irwin, Student Life Office, College Center Room 104 OCEAN COUNTY COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 each awarded to three (3) graduating students who have achieved outstanding academic performance at Ocean County College and who will continue their education in the Kean Ocean program. SUBMIT APPLICATION TO: Allison Irwin, Student Life Office, College Center Room 104 PRESIDENT’S LEADERSHIP TEAM SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 each awarded to two non-traditional students who have demonstrated commitment to successfully completing their academic requirements and persistence in managing demanding outside responsibilities not experienced by traditional students and will continue their education at a four year institution.
