Only top 4-6 inches of the soil profile was acidified. Heading was delayed by as much as 7 days in low pH plots. Residual weed control negatively effected by acidity. Visually, heat and drought tolerance reduced by acidity. Relative Yield (RY) of grain sorghum across pH at Lahoma and Perkins. RY equals (plot yield/ max yield) of site. Max yield was 50 and 70 bu/ac at Lahoma and Perkins respectively.

    Wetter 2010 little effect

    • Once crop is established (knee high) visual difference in mid range pH (4.5-5.0) were reduced. Only top 4-6 inches of the soil profile was acidified.

•Heading was delayed by as much as 7 days in low pH plots.•Residual weed control negatively effected by acidity.•Visually, heat and drought tolerance reduced by acidity.

Relative Yield (RY) of grain sorghum across pH at Lahoma and Perkins.

RY equals (plot yield/ max yield) of site. Max yield was 50 and 70 bu/ac at

    Lahoma and Perkins respectively.
