Format with Styles
A style is a set of formatting instructions that you can apply to text.
Word provides a number of predesigned styles and groups those styles that apply similar formatting into sets called Quick Styles sets.
Whereas a theme changes the overall colors, fonts, and effects used in a document, a Quick Styles set changes how the colors, fonts, and effects are combined and which color, font, and effect are dominant.

The default Quick Styles set is named Word 2010, and the styles in this set are available in the Quick Style list in the Styles group in the Home tab.
Several styles display as thumbnails, or miniature representations in the Quick Style list in the Styles group.
Generally, these style thumbnails include the Normal, No Spacing, Heading 1, Heading 2, and Title styles.

The styles in a Quick Styles set apply formatting that includes colors and fonts.
You can change the colors or fonts applied by styles in a set with the Colors and Fonts options at the Change Styles drop-down list.
However, because the styles in a set are designed to complement one another, in most situations you will not change them.
