Review data on progress in LDCs
over the IPoA period (2011- )
on key goals and targets specified in the IPoA
which are of particular importance
to structural economic transformation.
Objective of the presentation
- Eight priority areas
- Over arching goal: “to overcome the structural challenges faced by the LDCs in order to eradicate poverty, achieve internationally agreed development goals and enable graduation from the LDC category”
- Some specific goals and targets for LDCs and development partners:
- at least 7% economic growth;
- doubling the share of LDCs exports in global exports by 2020;
- significantly increase access to electricity;
- 100 per cent access to the Internet by 2020;
- Donor countries to provide 0.15-0.20 per cent of their GNP as ODA to LDCs;

Upcoming LDC Graduation (5):
2020 – Vanuatu; 2021 – Angola; 2023 – Bhutan; 2024 - São Tomé and Príncipe, Solomon Islands.
LDCs meeting the graduation threshold (7):
Bangladesh, Kiribati, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Timor Leste, Tuvalu.
