FRANK ABBOTT JONES Frank Abbott Jones, 83, died Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Jackson. Visitation was held at 1:00 p.m., Mon- day, December 10, 2018 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lexington. Services fol- lowed at 3:00 p.m. also at the church. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington. Frank Abbott was born and raised in Holmes County. He graduated from Tchula High School; U.S. Naval Electron- ics School; Mississippi State University with a BA & MA in History; served in the United States Navy; was his- tory instructor at Mississippi State University; farmed Clifton Plantation; and was a graduate student at Mis- sissippi College (masters in Health Care Administration). For many years he had been involved in commu- nity affairs. He had served as chairman of the board of trustees of the hospital until 1984, was a member of the board of directors of Holmes County Bank, he was past president and board mem- ber Advisory Committee of the Children’s Center. He is a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, where he served as warden, vestry- man, and delegate to council. He was a member of the Hol- mes County Agriculture Sta- bilization Committee, presi- dent of the Holmes County Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners from 1968 to 1975, secretary and treasury from 1970 to 1985 of the Black Creek Drain- age District Commissioners, and a member of the Holmes County Indigent Care Board from 1983 to 1896. Survivors are sons, Wil- liam Payton Jones and Wil- son Abbott Jones, both of Lexington, Hampton Dodd Jones (Kristie) of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Steph- anie Howard (Ricky Bray) of Byram; five grandchildren and three great grandchil- dren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Triana Wilson Jones. Donations may be made to French Camp Academy; One Fine Place; French Camp, MS 39754. LCDR GEORGE KINCAID LCDR George Kincaid, age 85, passed away on De- cember 6, 2018. He was born in Salisbury, North Carolina. After grad- uating from Boyden High School, he enlisted into the Navy and served on the York- town in the Korean War. Af- ter serving his initial 4 years, he went to University of Florida and earned his Doc- tor of Education, he remained in Naval reserve at Mac Dill Air Force Base. He taught at USF in Tampa Florida. He left behind his wife of 39 years, Barbara (Jones) Kincaid. He had a total of 7 children/step-children, Kev- in A. Kincaid, Kerry B. Kin- caid, Karl S. Kincaid, Keith C. Kincaid, Wyatt W. Waller, Richard H. Kincaid, Melinda (Mindy) S. Peck. He had ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home in Durant, MS. Re- ceiving begins at 10:00 a.m., and services will begin at 11:00 a.m. GEORGE DAY WYNNE, JR. George Day Wynne, Jr. (82) passed away from com- plications of Alzheimer’s Disease on December 3, 2018. He was born August 28, 1936 in Lexington, MS and remained a permanent resident of Holmes County for the rest of his life. He attended Holmes Ag- ricultural High School and graduated from Mississippi State University with a de- gree in Agriculture. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher raising cattle and growing crops. He served as a board member for numerous farm groups and organizations. A devout Christian, he was a lifelong member of Pick- ens Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on numerous church commit- tees. George was truly devoted to his family and friends. He was a husband, father, broth- er, uncle, and grandfather, whose life revolved around his family. He married the mother of his children, Char- lotte Wynne, on August 16, 1957 and was married to her for 48 years until her death in 2005. In 2007, he married Janie Loflin to whom he was married until his death. Survivors include his wife Janie; sons, David Wynne (JuliAnna) of Pickens and Terry Wynne (Renee) of Pickens; daughters, Angie Blain (Cham) of Pickens and Allison McQuirter (Dan) of Madison; stepsons, Charles Loflin (Malinda) of New Jersey, Dan Loflin (Trudy) of Lena and Brian Loflin (Sara) of Colorado; sis- ters, Patsy Rogers and Faye Wilson, both of Lexington; grandchildren, Ashley Sc- obey (Graham), John-David Wynne (Melissa), Hunter Blain, Terrell Wynne, Haley Blain, Paige Wynne, Eliza- beth Wynne, Grace McQuirt- er and Davis McQuirter; step grandchildren, Laura Leigh Ladner, Connor, Morgan, Lauren, Carolyne, Cooper and Noah Loflin; and three great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gladys Wynne and his first wife Charlotte Pinkard Wynne. The family wishes to ex- press their sincere apprecia- tion to Dr. Paul VanLanding- ham and Angela Patterson, RN, Carolyn Roberson and Addie Johnson. Frank Abbott Jones, 83, died Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Jackson. Visitation was held at 1:00 p.m., Mon-day, December 10, 2018 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lexington. Services fol-lowed at 3:00 p.m. also at the church. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

LCDR George Kincaid, age 85, passed away on De-cember 6, 2018.

Southern Miss Awards Degrees at fall 2018 Commencements

The University of South-ern Mississippi held fall 2018 commencement exer-cises Dec. 7 at Reed Green Coliseum on its Hattiesburg campus.
