Now in its 8th year, Oban Winter Festival has grown to accommodate anextensive programme of events aimed at people of all ages. Organisedby six local volunteers and supported by the community, it is a ten daycelebration of Oban’s unique culture and community with streetparades, international and local performance acts, fire artists, crafts,pipers, parades and family fun.
Festival action takes place mainly in the centre of town which meansgetting from place to place is very easy. Discover Oban’s greatshopping, bars and restaurants that make this town tick. Take a tour ofthe local distillery to sample local malts, or enjoy a relaxing coffee inone of our many cafes while soaking up the beautiful view of the bay.
For those seeking more refined entertainment, there are variousliterary, language, cinema, music and theatrical events throughout thefestival, offering a chance to learn, participate and celebrate our culture.
Should you choose to stay overnight in Oban to enjoy one or more of theWinter Festival events there are various options for your stay, from topclass hotels and apartments in the town centre to the many excellentbed and breakfast establishments. You can find more details at

MOVING MINDS AND NEW HOPEAn extract from MECOPP’s wonderful Moving Minds Exhibition will be on display
at New Hope for the duration of Oban Winter Festival (16th - 25th November).The exhibition was developed by MECOPP and Gypsy/Travellers from around
Scotland. It shares memories and photographs of objects with special significanceto tell diverse stories from Scotland’s Gypsy/Traveller community. Come along to
the exhibition launch event in New Hope. An opportunity to view the exhibitionand talk to some of the Gypsy/Traveller contributors.

support the likes of Amy MacDonald and Ben Howard. Awarded the prestigiousGerry Rafferty Songwriting Award in 2012, this gig will showcase work from
his new EP “I Never Made It”, released on 23rd November.Come along after the fireworks display and warm yourself with a dram

Oban High School Traditional School of Music is now in it’s7th year and was set up by music teacher Morven Gageto encourage talented young musicians within the school
to work together as a group, increase their repertoirewithin the traditional music genre and take part in manygreat opportunities for live concert performances and
playing for ceilidh dances throughout the year.Led by tutors Sileas Sinclair, Finlay Wells, Joanie Garvinand Lorne MacDougall, the group sing Gaelic and Scotssongs and play a large number of instruments including
pipes, fiddles, accordians, whistles and flutes, allrhythmically accompanied by piano and guitar.
OHS Trad School of Music are very fortunate to becontinually supported by Mr Bain and Oban High School
and go from strength to strength each year.A number of former members are now studying musicperformance at universities and colleges throughout
the country, flying the flag for Oban and Lorne.Come along to our St Andrew’s Night Ceilidh anddance the night away to some lively music and
