Well-known for its stately home, Goldsborough Hall, a former royal
residence and now a fi ve star hotel, the village is also home to a
charming cricket ground, post offi ce, pub and an excellent primary
school. Located just 2 miles away is Knaresborough, one of the
county’s most picturesque towns. Its historic centre includes an
ancient castle perched on the cliffs above the River Nidd, affording
stunning views of the famous railway viaduct which spans the Nidd
Gorge. As well as home to the world famous Mother Shipton’s
Cave, Knaresborough is also known for a wide variety of cafes, delis,
restaurants and bistros alongside boutique stores and a popular
weekly market offering locally grown fresh produce.
Also nearby is the elegant Victorian spa town of Harrogate, famous
for its handsome historic buildings and verdant gardens. It’s a
popular place to indulge in an antiques hunt, a leisurely lunch at the
famous Betty’s tearoom, a visit to the luxurious Turkish baths or a
picnic in the fl oral Valley Gardens.
Goldsborough is only 35 minutes’ drive from the centre of York
