Why? We can come up w

Here are a few theories:1. It would mean making changes. Hardly anyone really likes chanquires any changes, count us out.2. It would mean giving up something. We may be willing to do whnot mean giving up something we consider comfortable, necessary, may be willing to fly if we could still remain on the ground.3. I might not like the outcome. If we had wings and we flew we mdont like to fly.

As Christians we have the most wonderful promises from God. Sharwith others is like flying in the illustration above. We have been givfly; we just have to decide if we are willing. Sharing can be as simp

Will you fly? What are you willing to do?

Hope Circle will meet on Monday, Oct. 13th at 7:00 P.M. in

the church parlor to discuss "The Spymistress" by Jennifer

Chiaverini. Elizabeth Van Lew was born into an aristocratic

Virginia family, but became the leader of a ring of spies that

reached as far as the home of Confederate President Jefferson

Davis. Author Chiaverini's deeply researched novel brings to

life the story of this remarkable unknown heroine of the Civil

War who nursed Northern prisoners, helped them escape from

prison, and became a key person in the Richmond Under-

ground. Please consider joining us for an hour of discussion

    and fellowship.

    PRAYER CONCERNS

Please continue to pray for Frances Allison, Audra Assad, Gille

McClelland,Joyce Miljanovich, and Zola Stahley who are recov

    TRUSTEES REPORT

The Trustees are assembling a volunteer committee of congregational members wishing to

train on operating the audio-visual systems within the church. The instruction will be pro-

vided by Bill Jacka and encompass cameras, sound systems, lighting, recording and other

equipment owned by the church. Interested persons please see Jim Anderson or Bill

Jacka. Once we get 5 or more volunteers, training will begin.

We will be contracting soon with Lower Valley Ambulance Service to conduct CPR

courses for church personnel. All those interested in obtaining CPR certification please

see Jim Anderson. Class sizes are limited to 8 persons but if we get more volunteers, a

second class will be scheduled. Training time is approximately 3 hours. Certification is

good for two years. The cost will be absorbed by a donation to the church.

The Trustees entered into a contract with our copier company that will save the church

roughly $2500 per year, or $13000 over the life of the contract. We are looking into ser-

vicing the furnace and other equipment prior to the winter season. The Trustees are also

reviewing their annual budget to assist the Finance Committee and the Treasurer in the

church budgeting process. Upcoming shortly will be the annual parsonage inspection

with the chair of the SPRC. Thanks to all for your "eyes and ears" around the church to

help us maintain this beautiful building.

    CONGREGATIONAL REVITALIZATION MEETING

What is your vision for our church? On October 18 we will have the opportu-

nity to meet with Amy Wagner from the Western PA Conference Center. The

Conference has responded to our request for help. Amy is a Pastor who works

with Congregational Development and Revitalization. On that Saturday from 9-

noon in the Social Hall, she will help us more clearly define our purpose, help us

achieve our goals, and teach us to wisely use the resources we have. We have a

good church. You are invited to come on the 18th to share and learn ways tomake it great.
