Emperors’ Treasures: Chinese Art from the National Palace Museum, TaipeiAsian Art Museum Docent Talk

his docent talk will be an exciting preview of the current Asian Art Museum exhibition that features nearly 150 artworks from the renowned National Palace

Museum, Taipei. Among the pieces are paintings, calligraphy, bronze vessels, ceramics, lacquer ware, jades, textiles, and historical documents. More than 100 pieces will make their debut in the United States; among these, 30 are extremely rare masterpieces. The exhibition also explores the identities of nine rulers—eight emperors and one empress—who reigned from the 12th through early 20th centuries. Asian Branch, Saturday, August 6, 2:30pm

The Practicalities of Estate Planning

state planning doesn’t have to be boring or morose. It can be

intriguing and interesting. It is all about the “big things”—family, money,

emotion, relationships, loss, and legacy.

Stefanie West, an estate planning and elder law attorney with her own practice in the East Bay, will focus on practicalities. Topics include reducing sibling rivalry, how to keep your “hidden jewels” from going accidentally to Goodwill, getting the banks to roll out the red carpet for your heirs, and reducing taxes. Insights into situations-gone-wrong will help you learn from others’ mistakes.
